Turtle Power Returns To Games!

It took nearly a year, but after announcing they had secured the rights to the classic '80s cartoon heroes; the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ubisoft has finally volunteered a few details.

As of now, the game is scheduled to release ahead of the movie next spring. Ubisoft's Montreal and Quebec City teams will be responsible for the game, which will appear on the Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PSP, DS, GC, GBA, and PC. As of yet, there is no news regarding a PS3 version. The publisher has further guaranteed a large variety of enemies from the original cartoon show, upcoming feature film, and the comics, all of which will be encountered in an "acrobatic environment." We assume this means something along the lines of Prince of Persia , where the Turtles can swing and jump off walls like true half-shelled ninjas.

"The TMNT movie is all about the emotions associated with family and teenage angst," said Nick Harper, the game's creative director. "We've taken that philosophy and turned it into gameplay mechanics that will be fun and challenging."

Good news for fans? There's going to be a collaborative team effort, as each member of the team (you know 'em all, right?) will assist each other in certain areas of the game. For example, perhaps Donatello has a particular ability that might help Leonardo reach a previously unattainable location. Or maybe Michaelangelo will complement Raphael's skill to beat on a particularly tough foe…okay, so if you didn't know the Turtles, we just introduced you.

The game, currently unnamed, holds a March 13 release, and the movie is slated to hit theaters on March 23.
