UK Mag Scoops PSOne Emulator And Other PSP Details

The UK PSP Magazine reported upon some exciting new PSP info, some of which we've been itching to know for some time now. Sony will be releasing an Eyetoy for the PSP in the near future; the Europe date is sometime in September (where Eyetoy development originated), while remaining TBA for other regions.

The following month heralds two more exciting propositions: a PSP GPS and the launch of the PSOne emulator. The former we've heard of before, but mysteriously enough, the magazine hints at the idea that certain game available now might have some hidden features that will take advantage of the new device.

As the date for the emulator finally emerges, so does a partial, but stellar list of launch titles that reads like a list of PSOne All-stars: Tomb Raider, Castlevania: SotN, Final Fantasy 7 and 8, and Silent Hill. No Riiiiiiidge Raaaccerr was mentioned, but I'm sure we can expect that in addition to a few more notables closer to release. Sony also plans to roll out a catalogue of nearly 7,000 PSOne titles throughout 2007.

Finally, we get some news on a firmware update coinciding with the launch of the Playstation 3. Reported features include video conference, video streaming, and PS3 compatibility.

The PSP's fall looks scorching, but it would be swank if we could, you know, get some more original titles, too.
