It's what we've been waiting for: the price!
After a lengthy PlayStation Vita presentation – which was most impressive, by the way – Kaz Hirai has revealed that this fancy new portable will be available "this holiday season." Also, the two prices: the wi-fi only model will retail for $249.99 and the 3G-enabled version will have a $299.99 price tag. That's not bad, especially considering the technology involved and the prices are also competitive with the Nintendo 3DS. This is one of those items that the gadget-lovers and gamers are going to love, and you can bet that it'll be huge when it arrives. Plus, with over 80 games currently in development from all sorts of designers and studios, the Vita should be well supported. The question is- how interested are you? Gonna get one?
And by the way, that's it for Sony's press conference. Indeed, it was all about the games.

Seriously, D1B!
What is D1M? 😛
Day 1 Mother****er just took my money?!
But Oyashiro wrote B, which is buy.
Where can I pre-order?
😀

No word about media or RAM, yet, though I'm assuming these details have been elaborated upon to the 150 studios who have signed on, already.

I am excited about the NGP, but I will still wait before purchasing it…
Q!

Pretyy sure im gonna have to get this. The online looks ALOT better then i woulda thought.
I WANT IT
Day One Purchase, assuming Uncharted is there at launch.
Yes wifi model is a D1P for me
Thank goodness. That's going in my pocket when my money moves out into a nice comfy cash register.
I'm a serious Nintendo Fanboy, but unless Nintendo has serious games lined up for the 3DS, I'm sold on the PSV. As Oyashiro said, Shut up and take my money!!!!
The sound you heard, right after Kaz announced the price was the sound of Nintendo collectively having a brown trouser moment.
Lol Highlander 🙂 There is a stink in the air!

Wow, thats some competitive pricing! Very tempting at only $250. I was kinda hoping to see a "big" game announcement other that LBP though.
What about Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time? 😉
Ha, I meant "big game announcement" for the Vita. I dunno, I thought that they'd announce or show a Killzone or another high end IP for a preview of some of the games post-launch.
oh ok.
They did announce Uncharted though which has some cool features. 🙂
I'm surprised that they didn't show off any third party games for the system. That also has to remind you that everything that you just saw for the Vita comes from Sony studios. But with 80 games in development for the system, I can't freakin' wait to see what else is lined up.
Yes it does look very good. I'm always hesitant with the launch of new hardware though. I generally like to wait it out and pick it up after it builds up a software library.
I was expecting a higher price to be honest. I though $299 for the wifi only and $399 for the 3G/Wifi model.
Honestly Sony's conference was "Meh" to me but their pricing for the PSP2 shows they've learned from their mistakes with the PS3's pricing. I'm getting it on Day1.
Agree with the man above me…I mean sorry to say it…but the conference was really just…ugh…
Fantastic news that the NGP is awesomely priced, seems like some good games are coming out and stuff…
But I was VERY DISAPPOINTED BY THE LACK OF ONE GAME….FINAL FANTASY VERSUS XIII. I MEAN WHAT THE HELL?!??!?! WHERE THE HELL IS IT?! TGS HUH?! OH COME ON!!! Just show something already! Enough with the little teasers…
And Last Guardian? AGENT? What happened to some exclusives? *groans*
Meh? Sorry, what? I mean, what were you expecting? They spent 90% of the time talking about games and exclusivity. As usual Sony shows up with games and new hardware and the jaded masses go meh?
::rolls eyes::
I thought it was pretty solid overall. The Uncharted 3 trailer and gameply got me all jazzed up, as did the Resistance 3 footage. Starhawk trailer impressed, Dust 514 looked interesting, and I'm glad we got some more information about the HD remakes. And Sly 4 was also announced. And Vita impressed me with some of the features and I LOVE the price. Modnation Racers looks fantastic.
Overall I'd say they were maybe 1 or 2 big exclusive announcements from a perfect showing, but I was happy.
Agreed, not impressive imo.
Solid, but unsurprising, except for the PSV price(s). That was the only "wow" moment of the show.
Speaking of which, for only $50 extra, I'll likely be getting the 3G version, so long as there's no mandatory contract. Then I'll be good to go if I ever get 3G service.
I was thinking the same thing Fane…
I wasn't impressed either.
Several things occurred that kinda brought the show down. Don't get me wrong, it was still impressive, far more than MS' show, but there were a few dampeners:
1. The apology at the start of the presentation and Jack stating that Sony has been humbled by the continued devotion throughout. Almost brought a tear to my eye.
2. Kobe Bryant and Ken Levine making an appearance was pretty cool, but paled compared to Gabe Newell taking the stage last year.
3. No Kevin Butler appearance!!! Seriously?!?!
So a great presentation and a massive load of exclusive content to please gamers throughout the year, but less surprises and the sombre mood after the apology made things less exciting compared to last year.
IDK, I thought Sony's showing was awesome, although they did wind up leaving out the Last Guardian & a few others.
It's mine! But I'm wondering about a monthly charge for 3G…
It'll be the standard AT&T data plan costs.
I was rather peeved to realize that my AT&T plan for my iPhone wouldn't extend to an iPad. If it is a separate plan for the PSV I will go wifi only.
Me too,the more I think about it the more I can't imagine justifying both the extra $50 for the hardware or a monthly fee. I mean am I really going to be riding the bus to work and NEED to jump on AT&T's 3G to download something? Doubtful.
OK look, before the witch hunt starts about the pricing. The Vita is more powerful than any iPad or iPhone out there. It's a 3G device that uses full broadband bandwidth. It will require a real 3G data plan. Millions upon millions of people think nothing of spending hundreds buying their iPad or iPhone that is encumbered by a two year AT&T contract running between $35 and $50 a month. So please, let's not pretend that the 3G should somehow be completely free or that the price is a bad one. It's not. Nor is it out of the ordinary for a 3G device like this – again look at devices like the iPad.
Personally, I may buy a 3G model, but not go with a data plan just yet.
Well the 3DS is royally screwed at this point.
SO when can I sink my teeth into this?
Very much so… now who is going stop by Project Cafe' and buy a Cappuccino?
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
Qubex, I'll take a large steaming cup of the Vita roast please…
😉
It's cheap and wonderful!
Just for curiosity were there any games at Sony's show that weren't exclusive? Only half of my attention was on the show and the other half was on Dragon Age. Seem's like all them were exclusive or had exclusive content?
The Vita is so perfect for my life style in so many different ways!!
Epic D1P !!(provided I'm still in North America at the time)
Nah, it was all either exclusive or exclusive content. Seven extra cars for NFS, Bioshock for Infinite, BF1943 for Battlefield 3. Move for Saints Row 3, and SSX as well as an exclusive level for the latter. Only thing that wasn't was the Star Trek game, I think.
I thought they said the Star Trek game WAS exclusive? Or did I miss something?
I just assumed it wasn't. Could be.
1 multiplatform game, 1 exclusive off-shoot (DLC)
"This should be mine, in fact, I think it will be"! "Quote the Raven never more"!
Quoth… past tense. And "Nevermore" is one word in The Raven.

I am so relieved that the price is right. Now I really can get this at launch, no excuses. Bravo Sony, bravo.
This was a pretty tight e3 for Sony. Too bad there was nothing new on Last Guardian, I really wanted that.
The pricing is awesome.
WOW, I bet a ton of people were floored when he said 250. What grade would you guys give them? i would give a b+ maybe A-.
Interested in the wifi version. I won't be getting it at launch though.
