It's true. Aya Brea herself is an incentive for picking up The 3rd Birthday , the long-awaited Parasite Eve iteration.
But there's nothing wrong with that. And don't think Square-Enix isn't well aware of the titillation factor; along with tight jeans that get ripped when taking damage, several provocative pictures floating around the Internet in the form of game promotion, we now learn about the costumes. That's right, she won't always be wearing rippable jeans, because she has also been seen in a business suit and most recently, a skimpy maid outfit . They're not just for show, either; as you can see in that pic from Japanese publication Jump Festa, Aya is clearly taking on a big baddie in her maid uniform. And yes, technically, Aya is 39 years old but you can't really say she has aged amazingly well. As part of the story, Aya doesn't have to worry about the depression and sagging body that comes along with old age. …good way to keep fans interested.
Anyway, this is one game that should be great, regardless of cute blonde girls who make every outfit appear just a tad naughty. The 3rd Birthday is due out next month in Japan.

Well, the ubiquitous maid uniform obviously, I mean, how could you not have that as an option in the game? Really, who'd have thought otherwise…. 😉
Let's not forget the rejuvenating ability of a Maid's uniform to drop anything up to a couple of decades from the apparent age of the character wearing it…
Seriously though, it shouldn't really be a surprise that other character skins will be available, nor should it be a surprise in a game from a Japanese developer that there is a Maid's uniform available. Besides, who wouldn't want to try this in the game? 😛
One thing that concerns me almost as much as it amuses me is the way that Kotaku dismisses the various outfits and costumes by effectively calling them fetish outfits. If we've got to the point where a svelte 39 year old video game character wearing a business suit or other costume can be dismissed as some kind of fetish interest, we've taken more than a few steps toward the puritanical end of the spectrum.
As far as I'm concerned throwing in a few fun costumes can't in any way be considered a bad thing.

Isn't it ridiculous that "Kotaku" calls them fetish outfits. I MEAN SERIOUSLY THEY'RE WHOLE SITE DOES NOTHING BUT SHOW COSPLAY and Japanese skin…anime cosplay…game cosplay…JPOP GROUPS…- IT'S A SITE MEANT FOR FETISHES OF OTAKU. What a BUNCH of hypocritical morons!
Hell I hear these days they're supposedly introducing otaku to Japanese porn stars. – I don't see them pointing out "oh yea you guys have a fetish for (insert whatever you feel like) if you're viewing this now."
I can't stand Kotaku.
Joystiq and Engadget aren't too bad though.

The word "fetish" brings in more traffic.
That's all you need to know.
LOL! In that case…
The thing about fetishes is that most people have interests that others would call a fetish. Although, there are those those fetishists who do consider their fetish a fetish, but they are rare and just plain weird. Then there are those who believe themselves to be without a fetish, they're simply fooling themselves. Everyone has a fetish of some kind, even it's it's just fishnet stockings and heels on a video game character. Eve in a maids uniform, wedding gown, school uniform, tight jeans or business suit hardly qualifies as a fetish interest, it's simple titillation (another good one for the site hits). Nothing more, nothing less…
😉
Kotaku: "We don't remember any overpriced Little Red Riding Hood outfit for Sheva in RE5"
I wonder what word Kotaku used for Bayonetta…
I clicked on the Kotaku link, and I was reminded on why I don't go there anymore.
This game keeps getting better and better. Not only is it a franchise I LOVED in the PS1 era, but man… talk about adding features!
If Square Enix puts anything like the quality work that went in CC:FFVII into this there's no reason why this game shouldn't be a D1P.
I know I'm stoked. The PSPII could come out next year but the PSPI will still have some handheld AAA titles coming to it!
In one of their articles….
To get Aya's outfit next to nothing, players can, for example, detonate five grenades on themselves.
Oh boy, I can foresee for some playa's, there goes Aya's whole supply of grenades.
"you can't really say she has aged amazingly well"
I'd say she has aged pretty well.
Any way, can't wait for this game. Not enough TPS on PSP.
No, I mean because she hasn't "aged" in the technical definition of the term.
I see, maybe she did get a degenerative muscle disorder though cuz her legs turned into toothpicks!
LOL! I still believe in the rejuvenation powers of a cute maid costume…
she can flit around my place in that thing any time 🙂
I think she's actually getting younger or something. Not sure.
S-E did explain why a 39-year-old looks like a 20-year-old and it had something to do with a weird aging phenomenon.

Aya Baggins?
In PE2 Aya explained in a flashback why she has not aged. It was during the shower scene. Her Mitochondria(sp) will not allow her to get old. A young host is beneficial for their survival.
Yep, nothing wrong with a pretty character in a maid costume…. ::looks at avatar::
Slow news day?
No reason to comment?
Slow news day? You've clearly never heard of Parasite Eve. Perhaps too young to remember the good ol' PS1 era?
Any PE news is good news.

In Japan…?
You mean the rest of us an't getting it? 🙁
hey GT5 is all I care about, it's here in 8 days 2 hours 🙂
Parasite Eve series is one franchise I pretty much enjoyed in my PSX days. Directed by Nomura himself, it pleases me that this project is already nailed down with only FFXIII Agito and the long and awaited versus XIII. I hear he's having too much pressure bringing carrying the weight of Square-Enix "foolhardiness", considering he is their last shining hope.
If people took care of their body then they probably could actually look like that at age 39.
plastic surgery doesn't count -___-
