Sega Reveals Pre-Order Incentive For Valkyria Chronicles 3

If you're a Valkyria Chronicles fan, you're probably going to be in line to purchase the upcoming third installment.

Sega has revealed that both physical and digital copies of Valkyria Chronicles 3 will come with a special pre-order bonus: it's the "Gallia Secret Document File 422," which will come as a booklet and a download code. The booklet is the "Gallian Journal 1935" and it's basically a scrap book of articles from the Gallian Journal, a weekly publication in the fictional nation of Gallia. Furthermore, it'll contain a secret password for unlocking a new guest character; Aliasse, from VC2. Sega obviously knows the VC fans; they're typically hardcore followers who really appreciate such pieces of fanservice, and that's a definite bonus. Of course, PlayStation 3 owners who want another installment on their home console remain disappointed but hey, VC2 on the PSP is one hell of a game . The portable experience was great and although we're sure they could do more with the PS3, we're still looking forward to VC3.

And if you're a true fan, you'll pre-order to nab that prize. Just bear in mind we're not sure if this is confirmed for North America…

They probably figured from VC sales, that'd they make less sales on the ps3 worldwide than if they'd make just from a PSP version in Japan alone. It's tragic. VC is a lovely game and perhaps the most under-appreciated title in ps3's library.

I'm almost through VC2 and while i love it a lot i feel like it could have been much more on the ps3.

The first was fantastic and the second was great. The third looks like a blend between the best elements of both. This pre-order incentive doesn't interest me in the least, as there is enough lore in the games already to appease all but the most hardcore of fans. This should be yet another fantastic title to add to the PSP's quickly growing library. I mean, seriously, what's up with all of the new, interesting PSP games after the drought of the last couple of years. Very odd…
Peace.

Gotta admit, that's a pretty weak preorder incentive, but I guess it is just a PSP game.

Ben left out a key bit about the preorder bonus, a playable scenario:

"The download code is for an episode called "Chapter 0: Kurt's First Campaign." This episode tells the story of main character Kurt Irving's first campaign, a passage that's not told in the main part of the game. Clear the episode, and you'll get a limited weapon which can be used in the main game."

These Valkyria Chronicle games really make we wish the PS3 could play PSP games. I haven't touched my PSP in probably 2 years. And I'm not even sure where it is anymore… sigh.

huh, how do you preorder digital content? my brother just bought a psp go (he thought it was cooler) so i guess i can play psp games now. not gonna rush out and buy games though. i really want to play valkyria chronicles on the big screen, not much of a portable gamer. sure i had games like final fantasy tactics advanced and golden sun but i think i kinda outgrew portable gaming already.

Plug your PSP into your TV and, BAM, you can play this on your TV.

Chalk me up as another surprised this isn't on ps3. It would take longer but I might actually play it since I'm not big on anime but loved the 3d strategy rpg mechanics.
Almost everything looks better on a bigger screen.

Nooooooooo! First VC2 was on PSP and now VC3 is gonna be on PSP too?!!

Not that it's a serious matter, considering I have a PSP anyway, but I was seriously looking forward to it being on the PS3… 🙁

Releasing the game on PS3 would have been all the pre-order incentive I'd need.
