Although the PSP is on its way out and Sony appears ready to usher in its successor, Ready at Dawn wants everyone to know that the original handheld was a mighty powerful little unit.
They essentially proved that with God of War: Chains of Olympus , but it seems they've taken yet another step with the new portable Kratos adventure, Ghost of Sparta . According to Examiner.com , Ready at Dawn designer Mike Deneen said the team used the PSP to its "highest potential." There's a wide variety of top-notch games on the PSP but God of War is always a cut above. Said Deneen:
"We really wanted to show people HOW POWERFUL the PSP can be if fully utilized, and every inch of that UMD is oozing with the highest quality content that comes directly from harnessing all the power of the system."
You know, given what that team can do, you should all be damn thankful they came back to the PSP. After Chains of Olympus , Ready at Dawn said they wanted to move on and do something else, and the idea of another portable GoW wasn't on their minds. But eventually, they did decide on a follow-up and I think we'll all be very grateful for that reconsideration come November. You're gonna want it.

These guys should do Heavenly Sword 2. Will be getting this.
By the way, the psp has no games *stares at jrpg library."
Wow, that's a great idea Scarecrow. I'd love to see them take a shot at the HS series.
Wouldn't it be awesome sauce if they cranked out HS2 and sold about 5 million copies? That would stick in Ninja Theory's craw.
It's a shame u haven't played Yakuza for psp.It is the game for the psp.But you can wait for the english release if they ever make one!

Kiryu, it is not exactly RPG, but i agree a yakuza is a yakuza. btw have you played the jap version? IF yes, is the story and gameplay worth giving this the name yakuza?
I am very glad they did do another one. Did anyone else see the ign interview with them? it seemed kinda rude, "when are you guys going to stop just using other people IPs?". It was like they thought ready at dawn had to. I really hope they make a ps3 game next. With all the talent there they should be able to bring us something very cool.
That IGN interview was tough to read. They were being dicks with half of the questions and didnt even try to hide it.
They hate anyone who likes Playstation hardware.
The game demo was awesome–just downright awesome. I will be playing this one for sure.
Austria! Well, then. G'day mate! Let's put another shrimp on the barbie!
Vertigo,
It's Australia. And we call them prawns, not shrimps just so you know.
Lawless we're cool so I'll be nice.
It's a quote from the movie Dumb and Dumber (1994).
Oh… yeah, I haven't seen that movie in about ten years. >.> The whole shrimps on a barbie thing is still ridiculous though.
Cool beans!

haha, reminded me of that movie Hot Rod. Cool Beans!
Lofty words indeed. Thankfully they have a proven record already so this one is looking mighty good. I might just sign up for that Sony credit card and get myself a hundred off a new PSP after all.
Don't ruin your credit, just get a used one off Ebay for $60.
That's where I got mine, but it wasn't as cheap as 60.
What model number is it? There's a 1000 selling right now for $56.
3001. I might get an old one sometime to mod it for nintendo emulation though.

I strongly suggest doing that. Walking around with hundreds of 8/16 bit classics is a wonderful thing.
Do you know how to mod it LV? if so you should tell me. 😉 This is a great idea. I'll still have a use for my 1000 after i get my 3001.
It's rather time consuming but once you do it you're home free and you can load games on it at will.
Just type something like "How to Mod a PSP 1000" in google/yahoo and you'll find plenty of sites telling you how. For mine I used a great guide on the Afterdawn forums but the poster has since taken down his guides, bla.
LV is correct, afterdawn is your friend.
Nice, thanks dudes.
In Ready At Dawn I Trust.
I played the demo and it is definitely up there with GOWII. Just ordered Chains of Olympus too.
I'm giddy in your new found interest in the PSP. The only thing that pisses me off is you're getting all these great games for dirt cheap thanks to your patience.
haha, I know, they cost me nothing. As it happens I will have some newfound travel and down time so I thought why not take the plunge?
I am so close in taking the plunge on a second hand PSP 1006K model… for a US$130. May be worth it, but remember, as soon as PSP2 is announced the prices should tumble, right?
Anyway, thinking about it.
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
yah, definitely they should drop the price.
Nuooo! the demo had a a bit of tearing. Didn't know that was possible on the PSP. I bet they fix it for release. Can;t wait. I just read too that specially marked boxes of this game will come with a beta code for a skin of Kratos brother for use in God of War III. The concept art for the skin looked cool.
You see that on Joystiq?
I don't like that Kratos' brother is named for Deimos, the god of hope. But, the piece of artwork for him did look seven shades of kick-azz.
Peace.
Saw it at IGN.
the new trailer is insane, i needa buy another psp.(keep selling them)
As I've said before, Ghost of Sparta will rock all sorts. Hearing this news makes me think that perhaps a God of War title will be the last hurrah for the PSP as it was with the PS2. Of course, there's still a bundle of games coming out for it in the future, but the successor can't be far away. Who's ever heard of a portable with a shelf life of more than six years?
Either way, I have to get this alongside Peace Walker when I see copies.
Peace.
I already pre-ordered this baby when it available and if the news of PSP2 is true, I'm not surprise Ready at Dawn will probably work on more God of War titles for the PSP2 in the future.
isent that what they said about GOW CoO?
cant trust this PR bull sh*t!!!!!!!
Man oh man. My PSP's been getting more gaming attention than my PS3 lately and they're giving me more God of War, bring it on! They really did a great job with CoO, anxious to see what they'll do with this one.
Watched the trailer for this game, and looked amazing.
Psp is pretty awesome. PeaceWalker is absolutely amazing for a portable game. Patapon is awesome too. I haven't played CoO but it's only like $19 on the network. Have a pspgo… Ghosts of Sparta looks awesome as well. Maybe i should get the demo.
I hope they make more awesome games in the future.
I just watched a new trailer for this game. It looks fracking awesome! Too bad its not on the PS3.
