Dissidia Sequel Strikes US In 2011

The first was a big hit, so it's not at all surprising to see a sequel. …the title might cause a double-take, though.

Anyway, Square-Enix has revealed that Dissidia 012 Duodecim: Final Fantasy will hit North American stores some time next year . It's hardly a solidified release date but at least we know it's confirmed for this region and we're hoping it isn't a long wait. The first Dissidia featured well-known FF icons squaring off against one another in a flashy arena of sorts; it wasn't an RPG, but the character progression was very reminiscent of a role-playing game. In that way, it kinda satisfied two sets of fans. The highly anticipated sequel will boast a bunch of new faces, too, including FFXIII heroine Lightning and FFIV's popular character, Kain. Returning Dissidia combatants include Tifa, Sephiroth, Cecil, Terra, Zidane, Golbez and Onion Knight. We'll get basically the same gameplay but the developers will be implementing an all-new assist feature; this will let you summon backup allies. If the chips are down, bring in a partner to help!

We'll let you know whenever Square-Enix decides to issue an exact US launch date but until then, just imagine the epic confrontations that lie within…

There's quite a few games that make owning a PSP worth while. Even if you don't travel. There's Dissidia, MGS Peace Walker, God of War Chains of Olympus and soon Ghost of Sparta, GT PSP, LittleBigPlanet, KH: Birth by Sleep and soon the The 3rd Birthday. The PSP is where Square actually seems to strive this gen. Oh and you can play any PS1 classic from PSN on it.

shadowscorpio,

What Jawknee said!

Gamestop has used ones, the 1000's for $99.99, 2000's for $119.99, & the 3000 for $129.99(NOTE:these were last year's prices, so they may be priced lower now).

If you like a variety of genres, I have a small, but varied, amount of games, music, TV shows, & movies in my own PSP collection(so far), so there's always plenty of extra goodness going on when you've also got a PSP too…..

Nice list Biker. Though with those gamestop prices he may be better off jus buying a new 3000 model. That way he knows where it's been(a college bud I new in California used his for porn, ewe!!!) and Sony gets the sale and support.

PSP 2000s go for $99.99 in Canada, last time I checked at work anyways. So, I think they've dropped the used prices on both the 1000 and 3000 series.

And why is there no mention of Valkyria Chronicles 2 and P3P?!

Thanks Jawknee,

About that porn stuff, I just bought 4 of my PSP's used from Gamestop, and a container of Lysol wipes to germicide them.

As for my fifth PSP, I was able to catch a guy about to trade his mint PSDP 1000 in, & I snatched it up first, for $20.
Once I got it home, I also found it had a 32MB Pro Duo memory stick still in it too).

I want to know who decided on that ridiculous title.

I do hope this doesn't have some lame-fest story like the first one. Granted, it got me quite addicted, but its the gameplay that hooked me; story was quite appalling.

Yea if it wasn't for the fun gameplay, I would have put it away within a week. The story and voice acting is garbage.

Just hope they aim for redemption. That was one Square Enix game that I just skipped the cut scenes..

I enjoyed the demo, didn't pick up the game, what would be awesome is having Sora (Kingdom Hearts) in there. Just sayin'

I don't understand how Square Enix called the first Dissidia an action RPG. Yeah it had RPG elements, but so did Dante's Inferno and no ones called that an RPG. Dissida was a very enjoyable PSP hack n'slash action game. I'm sure the next one will have good promise.

Dissidia was a fighting rpg, a progressive fighting game. progressive from the leveling up and such.

I might have to do that Dante's Inferno member review, I keep getting signs all over the place. Last night I watched "Gates of Hell" on the History channel and they used the game scenes and spoke with EA's Creative Director. I was like, "sweet"

No, she wasn't. She'll be included in the second, but that was just a small error with her being in the first.

If there's no Balthier/Fran there's no point in getting this sequel.

I disagree. The additions of Kain and/or Tifa are quality selling points.

LegendaryWolfeh

Agreed, kain instantly makes this something I'm looking forward to. Besides, there's not a single FFXII character I can think of that would really fit in this style of game, for some reason I always figured ffxii to have a more realistic style than any of the others, so I just couldn't imagine them doing insane moves like in dissdia

I just hope they add more characters though, since the first one had an ok roster, and since this game won't be 'looking' ny better it better at least make up for it in some way

God, I want this really want to play as Lightning. Playing Dissidia one first.

I saw a pic of Lightning in Aya Brea's outfit with the ripped jeans… most engaging.

After the PSP2 releases and the PSP is finally a reasonable price I'll put this on my back order list of sh*t to catch up on. Tifa is smokin, I even got Erghiez to play with her… as her.

Ok, so when do we get it? Eh, I can wait until the end of next year. I've put 118+ into the original, so I'm kind of daunted by how much time is going to be sunk into this one with the addition of a whole bunch more characters.
Peace.
