The 3rd Birthday Trailer Says: “She Is The Gift To Us”

Parasite Eve will make its return after over a decade of inactivity and this time, it'll be on a portable gaming device.

And although we admit to being more interested in a high-definition PE, The 3rd Birthday for the PSP is shaping up very, very nicely. The latest trailer that debuted at GamesCom this year is the longest, most impressive yet and it shows a tired, bloody Aya Brea facing off against part of "The Hive," which threatens all of humanity. We also learn she was the only individual to qualify for a certain program; a program designed to combat the plague, and sort of involves time…and birth.

The gameplay certainly reminds us of Parasite Eve II , which was more reminiscent of Resident Evil . The original PE was actually part role-playing where one could actually pause the combat, check the range of weapons and the position of Aya and her enemies, etc. The 3rd Birthday is obviously more fast-paced and is all about the third-person shooting. And yeah, it looks pretty darn cool. And there are those ripped jeans of hers…

Damn, now I REALLY want a PSP again. As if the essential fifth Metal Gear Solid, the third Parasite Eve and a new God of War are all coming out this year for the system… one year after I sold it because I was bored of it! Grrr.

Anyway, I find it strange that Square completely removed 'Parasite Eve' from the title. Wouldn't that help sales if nobody knows this is a PE game?

This game needs to make an appearance on the PS3. I don't play my psp nearly enough and this game looks like it deserves to be played.

That trailer left me confused about the story but the action looks solid for a PSP game.

I would want it if it was for PS3, but maybe the next one will be (like they mentioned before). Then she will truly be the gift to us. Although I'd rather have that old mechanic back than make it a TPS.

Really like the music of the game…can't wait for it really. And those ripped jeans of hers certainly are a gift to us!

I'm kind of confused whether the grainy part is supposed to be that way because it's flashbacks, or not

If the game stays mostly grainy like the first 3/4 of it … then Nahhh, not so much.

But if the majority of it plays crisp & clear like the last 1/4 of the vid, then I'm impressed

BTW, isn't the world supposed to end 12 days before Aya's 3rd Birthday…. cause she may have cause to speed things up even more than what we've just seen.

The world will end as soon as she runs out of rippable material in her jeans.

Worst. Narrator. Ever.

C'mon Square Gaynix, give it to us on PS2 at least.

You didn't play Fable. Or Burnout Paradise for that matter.

I played Fable.

We'll just have to disagree then.

At least the Fable narrator had a kind of folksy thing going on. They might as well just delegate all narrating to Morgan Freeman.

Have to agree. Both Fable's and this narration are terrible.

I still want the other parasite eve games before I play this one. Since I missed out on them it'll be nice to play them first. Allowing me to get this one after a price drop.

I never got to play the second one, but steel yourself for the first, that game is UGLY. It's good, but the graphics are almost unbearable in places.

This game looks great. Here's to Sony/Playstation knowing how to market it. If they can market their PSP games better, then we wouldn't see great games like MGS: Peace Walker go virtually unnoticed. The 3rd Birthday, sweet.

the only rpg i ever played and finish was the first parasite eve game on ps1. seeing the protaganist Aya Brea now brings back the memories when she was in Manhattan.

I disagree with it having the same survival horror gameplay mechanics of PEII or the classic RE games. It actually just reminds me alot of Crisis Core and Resistance Retribution, i hope the controls aren't as fiddly as resistance.R. i have to plug in my PS3 controller to truely enjoy that.

But it's looking good nether the less, i'll certainly be purchasing it.

I'm crossing my fingers that this will lead to PE1 and PE2 being released on the PS Store.

This isn't the only great game coming on the system. It's well worth thinking purchasing one.

I'd rather Square just make PSP games from now on. They can't seem to make any console games without letting MS ruin it for everyone.

I hope the controls don't suck. FPS/TPS on the PSP tend to be blagh when it comes to controls.

Peace Walker is the only one that got it right so far.
