Initially, it was assumed that Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep would release for both PSP-3000 and PSP Go owners. It would be a logical plan of action, yes?
But it seems Square-Enix may not be making the promising action/RPG available via the PlayStation Network. This rumor has been popping up all over the Internet during the past 24 hours and according to one Japanese source cited by Joystiq , Birth by Sleep won't be digitally available due to "copyright issues." This information comes from Magunus' Twitter page, where he says he recently attended a PlayStation event and learned of this unfortunate decision while in attendance. However, there's no official mention of this anywhere so one should probably take this with a grain of salt. This is one of those games that would – theoretically – be quite popular amongst the handheld crowd, and that most certainly includes all new PSP Go owners. It'd be one thing to not release it in UMD form in an effort to promote the new all-digital handheld, but to leave it off the newest portable iteration…? Why?
We'll let you know if either Square-Enix or Sony clears this up any time soon, but we certainly expect a response. Don't leave PSP Go owners out in the cold, guys.

As long as it is UMD, I'm golden. It's looking to be better than the DS game and that makes me happy.
There goes me getting a psp go.
Don't rule out the decision entierly, this is just a rumor!
I was on the fence about getting a PSPGO, but the news that the PSP2 will launch next year pushed me off that fence.
I played the ds game and was pleasantly suprised. If only i had the muhlah for this one. too bad because i was looking forward to it.
Birth By Sleep will be wayyy better ^_^
coupled this with the news of the psp2 coming next year… this is the first day i can remember in awhile that ive been this dissapointed with sony. REALLY regretting my 250$ psp purchase as of today.
now.
if that psp2 rumor AND this are both true. that's strike 1. ill give sony… 5 strikes… because ive been loyal since about 96.
but still.
a bad day for me and sony, without a doubt.
Yeah, today was a big f*ck up for the psp
Personally, I'd be selling the psp go while the prices are still up. Doesn't seem like Sony really thought going UMDless through very well. I hope the psp2 will have a lot of internal memory AND physical media.
WTf is the point of psp go then..
I have a feeling that the Mouse decided that it's precious characters might be at risk of being pirated if it were downloadable. Complete rubbish of course. Sounds like Sony needs to get on the ball and fix this.
Haha. It's a good thing i have no interest in the Go anyway.

I haven't tried, but can you not download minis onto the earlier psps?
I hope Birth by Sleep and 365/2 will both be released on the PS3 in 1 or 2 years like Chain of Memories

Same.
HA!
good going sony.
you release a cramp inducing system and charge 150 bucks more for it, and release most of the games later on there or not at all.
and some of them dont even work like assassins creed bloodlines.
BRILLIANT!
what a perfect way to treat and thank your loyal fans.
sonys gone really greedy latley and because of that there quality and customer service has really gone down the sh*tter!
what happened to the sony that cared about its fans?
what happened to the sony that sent a free coppy of james bond casino royale to the first several thousand people to sign up to the PSN?
brings up my comment from the previous article about the psp
man am i glad i have my psp-1000 🙂
heh, like highlander said, probably disney's doing. glad i still have my PSP-1000.
PSP-1000 or PSP-2000 plus 8GB Memorystick and downloadable content FTW!
I recently got a 16gb card. It's freaking great having a bunch of ps1 classics and downloadable titles on my psp.
How do you play ps1 classics on a psp? Don't you need extra buttons?
