Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Gets Japanese Date?

We waited plenty long enough for Dissidia: Final Fantasy but Square-Enix fans are hoping the wait won't be quite so lengthy for Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep .

The biggest problem for North American and European gamers has been that this promising action/RPG hasn't even received an official Japanese launch date. Without that, it's tough to estimate when it might finally sit on store shelves in other regions. However, according to KingdomHeartsUnion citing a Japanese website as the source, Birth by Sleep is now slated to arrive in Japan on January 9, 2010. If this is true, we can start thinking about a US launch date; perhaps it'll arrive within only three months, even though we had to wait more than eight months for the aforementioned Dissidia . Square-Enix has said before that they'd like to shorten the localization process for their games, which is also why RPG followers are hoping Final Fantasy XIII makes it over here before the projected June date in GameStop's database. If it releases in Japan in mid-December and Square-Enix has said they'd like the localization to take only three months (if that's even possible), might we see it as early as March? Hence, if Kingdom Hearts is out on the 9th, we'd want an early spring US release, right? Well, here's hoping.

We're also hoping for this acclaimed and popular series to come to the PlayStation 3 at some point. But so far, the rumors are just that…rumors.
