The classic Lunar series has gone through many iterations, from the Saturn to the PlayStation to handhelds. And now, for those of you who missed out on one of the best RPGs of the 32-bit era, you'll get a chance to play it…completely redone and revamped!
It's Lunar: Silver Star Harmony for the PSP, which is scheduled to launch in Japan on November 12 , and best of all, it seems North American and European gamers won't have long to wait after that release. If you wish to pre-order the Japanese version now, you can nab a limited edition soundtrack featuring "Wind's Nocturne 2009" and "Tsu Ba Sa 2009." If any of you are familiar with the game, you know that music played an essential role in Silver Star Story , and it still contains some of the best songs ever. The good news is that several retailers are listing a 2009 launch date for the U.S.; EB Games says they'll put it in your hands on December 8 . It will make for a fantastic holiday present, too, if you're aware of any hardcore RPG aficionados who somehow missed this game when it arrived on the Saturn and later, the PlayStation. From the screenshots, they've definitely overhauled this one; the original version uses small sprites and nothing more.
But as you can see via that first link, the screenshots show enhanced character models and environmental detail. We kinda like the old-school way, but hey, there's nothing wrong with a little advancement for a new generation of gamers, right?

This is reason enough for me to pick up a psp. One of my favorite series of all time. I still play my ps1 version from time to time.

Always wanted to get this game back in the ps1 days
Will get it now for sure!
Sold!
Ahhh more RPGs going to handhelds!
I'm loving it, when work is slow I get paid to psp!
That's all well and good for you but my TV needs RPG, its HUNGRY.
come on lunar 2,3,4
I've always wanted to play this game but why on handhelds? It's getting a tad bit ridiculous. I have a psp and everything but I prefer to play my games on my big tv. Anybody want to trade me their psp 2000 or 3000 for a psp 1000? =D
damn straight.
It costs less to develop on the PSP, and there are twice as many PSP owners compared to PS3 owners. So right now, it makes more sense to go that way. You may sell more and make more by going PSP, ultimately though it's a good thing for companies to make money on PSP games, because it's a PlayStation platform, and a success on one may lead to games on another.
I find that the portable format with PSP based RPGs is ideal for RPGs. RPGs are a bit like books in that you can dip in and out in short sessions, thanks to PSPs ability to drop into sleep mode without having to save.
ben when can we preorder the limited edition if we wnna import it
Oh man! great! I always wanted to play it!
Fantstic news. I leap with joy. I borrowed a friends Lunar silver star story complete back when i was in middle school (like 6 years ago). I never beat the game. I always regretted it. I finally found the game 4 sale at an EB games store but it was 40 bucks. I had to pass cuz there are 2 many ps3 games I want.
YAY for second chances!!
Is that in Canada? Gameststop's here stopped carrying retro games a long time ago. Now that I think of it, that's when they started sucking real bad
No its in america. EB games here is a place that carrys alot of old nintendo stuff but most of it is so high I end up getting a newer game.
EB games as in Electronics Boutique? Didn't Gamestop buy them out? Forgive my ignorance
I don't know about elsewhere, but they still operate as EB games in Canada. Gamestop is a totally unknown name up here, but EB Games has a good rep (excellent for trade ins especially).

I'm not sure what EB stores you go to but everywhere I've lived in Canada they seem to have the same bad rep they have in the US. I've had to deal with missing pre-order stuff on a couple occasions. I also have seen one gamestop in canada in edmonton.
Even though I don't think this game needs 'another' remake because I believe if a game is good enough to merit a remake, it's good enough that the remake is unnecessary. I will probably still pick this up as it is a great RPG.
Hopefully there be more Lunar games in the future
I still have both this AND Eternal Blue for my Sega CD …. they still work great! Also, still have the PS1 remake …. will I buy the re-remake? Possibly ……
This looks interesting. The RPGs are really piling up on PSP and even PS3 now.
I remember playing the original on…goodness, I think it was the Sega CD peripheral for the Genesis.
I feel old now.
First day buy. I absolutely love the Lunar series.
I got a question.Im gonna buy a psp but theres also a new psp.will this game work on the old psp or new one?
