If you had a blast with Soul Calibur IV last year – and really, who didn't? – and you're a PSP owner, you've likely been anticipating the release date for Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny .
Well, according to Siliconera , Namco Bandai has revealed that the very first handheld iteration in this critically acclaimed franchise will drop in Japan on August 27 and only a few days later on September 1 in North America. That ain't too bad, and we strongly urge you to consider a purchase; you should see a new high water mark for portable graphics, and let's not forget about the new features. We'll have the option of toying around with Dampierre and God of War hero Kratos, and we'll even get that awesome character creation mode from SCIV. Feel free to read our full preview ; you will likely come away impressed and excited for Broken Destiny . The PSP has plenty of potentially excellent games scheduled for the near future, and the title in question is most certainly one of them. Really, for those who are always saying that visuals on a handheld can't be all that impressive, especially after seeing the flashiness provided by home consoles, they should take a look at some media for this title. It has definitely altered our line of thinking in that area.
Sure, maybe Tekken 6 is more up your alley, but if you're a true fighting fan and you've been looking for a great summer title for your PSP, look no further than Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny .

Cool I didnt know this was coming out so soon. I'll get day one because SC is best to me.
So far there's two fighting games on the PSP that have my upmost interest and they are Dissidia Final Fantasy and SC Broken Destiny. When Dissidia was first announced I was pumped for some Squal on Cloud action, then E3 09' comes around and I see the trailer for SC and I was like this looks like SCIV and then the End Begins song from God of War started playing and then my sis, my two friends, and myself were looking at the computer screen and each other practically screaming What The FUUUUCK!!
Basically what I'm trying to say is that right now the PSP has probably the funnest fighting games I've seen this year, and with Tekken 6 coming it's only gonna get better for use people who crave action on the go. Definite day one purchases for me and my sis.
P.S. Download the Dissidia demo now!! You won't be dissapionted. Sephiroth has never been so BADASS!

Who is Dampierre?
He's a new character. I can't really describe him too well, but Youtube has a couple of videos featuring him.
Wondering if there is a pre-order for this….
This game certainly looks impressive. I've been wondering when/if they would release a PSP version of SC. I hope it's as successful as I think it will be.
This is an absolute day one purchase.
Kratos!!!
lmao i hated SCIV.
just bring us tecken 6.
o and another mortal kombat game, but like deception.
i really liked the conquest mode in that finding all the medalions and so, finding all the characters learning there moves.
did anyone get past the sparky test?
god thats hard.
dam i wish my ps3 played ps2 games im in the mood for some R&C up your arsenal and MK deception.
As long as the game is the main focus of the article you'll most of the time hate it(noticing you pattern).
Whens the european release?!
Haven't been a fan of soul Calibur since the dreamcast days. But this would be a good game for long trips since you can just pick up and go.
If I had a PSP, I'd probably get this game. I should go back and play SCIV again, I'm sad to say it's gathered a little bit of dust lately.
Same here bro I'm popping that bad boy in tonight. Yoda get ready to face Talim!
