The rumors continue to swirl concerning Sony's new handheld, currently believed to be the PSP Go!. However, there's another iteration of the PSP with the same title, and it's attached to a special bundle package for Europe.
As revealed by Electronic Theatre , SCEE has chosen an interesting time to lift the lid on the PSP Go! View Entertainment Pack. The Go! View software allows you to "watch sports, movies and TV shows on your PSP," and this can range from simple comedies to the biggest blockbuster movies. Basically, you're looking at an on-demand TV service for a portable unit, and that's pretty damn nifty. Now, you can purchase the retail box of Go! View separately; it features a 4GB Memory Stick, Mini USB Cable and two month's free subscription to the Go! View service. You can nab this for £29.99, or if you'd rather go for the full PSP bundle, it'll include the PSP-3000, a 2GB Memory Stick, USB cable and the two months of free service for the price of £149.99. Apparently, both items are now available on store shelves in the UK, so if you're in the region, we suggest scanning about and and seeing what you can find. For those of you who don't yet own a PSP, this new software could be just the right incentive to coerce you into a purchase; who doesn't want on-demand TV while on the "go?" (pun intended) It's just too cool.
We'll let you know if SCEA announces this bundle for North America, but for now, the PSP Go! View Entertainment Pack appears limited to either the UK or European territories.
Does this mean the PSP GO! stuff wasn't a new PSP but a new bundle and service?
A bit disappointed if that is true. I was hoping for all new specs of a new PSP-4000 to fix the PSP-3000 screen. So they skipping a year of PSP upgrade?
The screen on my PSP-3001 works fine for me.
To be honest when I heard "PSP GO!" I just knew it had to be some sort of bundle and not the name of an actual PSP model. I mean why call a new model of a PSP…PSP GO! – what would you be trying to say from that? That it's a much more portable version of the Playstation PORTABLE?
It sounded like some sort of package/deal from the beginning – but hey the rumors were all good and fun like they are every year lol.
Well, in Europe the camera is the Go! Cam, and the GPS is Go! Explore for PSP (now incredibly hard to find, but there is a US map pack, so…). Do the PSP Go! was always a little suspicious as the name of a new PSP model….always.
Oh, yeah a quick question. SCEA, why didn't you bring the camera and/or GPS unit to North America? Why?
No the PSPGO is a new PSP , not this bundle.
BTW in the Future there will be existing two PSP-Versions the PSP-UMDversion and PSPGo without UMD but with a Flash drive (16GB/GO)
I still dont know why people want a new PSP.. the current one its powerful! alot more than the ds,,,it only need the most important thing…GAMES!
I totally agree. I'm more than happy with the PSP. There are a ton of great games scheduled to be released over the year, so I don't think the PSP is over just yet.
That's like saying we were just fine with PS2's and standard definition. No reason for PS3's.
Do you have a problem with more advanced tech?
i expected something like this
Not sure of what to make of all these PSP rumors…All I know is, a hardware revision makes no sense. You can't just dump 50 million users by adding a second joystick and changing up the control scheme. I like the idea of removing UMD, but how the heck are you gonna go back and play the games you already own? How would you go about converting your UMD's to a downloadable format? Just seems silly in my opinion.
An on-demand service seems to make sense, but I just don't know what to make of it. Stick to making good games for another couple of years to build up the user base to about 75 million, and then drop the hammer on Nintendo with a full fledged PSP2 powered with a Cell Processor and a solid state hard drive.
Doesn't this make a whole lot more sense?
They need something that'll superly compete with the itouch. That'd be cool.
So that means no PSP2 either, pretty much what I thought, all PSP news at E3 will be software probably.
Kind of disappointed. As a gaming devise is top notch and in my opinion better than the DS but as a multimedia device it's absolutely terrible and inconvenient. With a new psp I thought that I wouldn't have to carry an itouch around with me but I guess I have no choice.
So this means we will not have a DD only PSP? Thank god.
Well said factor its all about the games. Sony should focus on psp game library for as long as they can until they reales a worthy succesor to the psp. No more system upgrades.
I love how the PSP operates and that the games out for it are simply amazing. Any improvements are just icing on the cake. It is a very capable and fun entertainment device that just keeps getting better. Nice job Sony!
I still think this doesn't rule out the possibilty of a new PSP.
Go!View has been out for quite a while now (maybe a year) and the 2 month incentive isnt that good, since you get a 1 month free trial when you sign up anyway.

Go! Find! A! Better! Name!
Anyway, I think Sony should wait for the PSP3 to have download only games. Make it a more gradual change (for the better).
