We've got more good PSP news for you: while everyone is aware that Tekken 6 is on the way for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year, it has now been confirmed that the sixth installment in the long-running fighting series will also go portable.
According to IGN , Namco Bandai has issued a press release that outlines the PSP version – set to release alongside the console iterations – and we can expect "additional stages, content, items, and an ad-hoc multiplayer mode using 'original' and 'fan favorite characters.'" It'll be fantastic for handheld aficionados and here's a snippet from the press release to keep your interest pegged to the maximum:
"A must-have for Tekken aficionados, Tekken 6 sees the return of many familiar faces as well as new characters to create the largest line-up the series has ever seen. With a growing roster of fighters, each equipped with their own deadly techniques, martial art moves, and attack combinations, Tekken 6 will be the best 'King of Iron Fist Tournament' yet. Adding to the already rich gaming experience, a deeper character customization feature will only enhance the incredible fighting intensity as players go mano-y-mano."
You've probably already heard that Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny will also be headed to the PSP, so fans of the rejuvenated fighting genre ought to be plenty excited. Sony has said, time and time again, that there will be plenty of "AAA" software for the PSP this year, and it seems like every time we turn around, another game gets announced. So whether they launch a new PSP model or not, the must-have software should still be pouring off the shelves.

Wow PSP is going strong this year!!
PSP is dominating, Sony came to play. Except, is this gonna put Tekken 6 off even further?
If everything that has been pre-announced so far is true, then PSP sales are going to skyrocket after E3. I hope Sony has stocks of both new and old design.
Let's see we have the rumors of a new PSP model without UMD, even including a bigger screen, and possible other capability such as touch screen or phone capabilities. Then there are the games….oh and what games. LBP, Gran Tuismo, Tekken 6, Soul Calibur, Astonisha (Crimson Gem), Jak and Daxter, Monster Hunter, and MotorStorm – and that's just a quick list. So many games, so little time…..
Either way, there are surely a lot of 360 and PS2/PS3 gamers out there who are not yet into portable gaming. A new model PSP (or even a PSP-3000 with 8GB MemoryStick) would be very attractive along with this lineup of games.
I can't wait, there should be fireworks at E3.
Wait..what? Tekken 6 on PSP? that's unexpected…even though I'm buying it on PS3
Think I'll buy the psp version over the ps3 one just to avoid dlc disappointment.
so if they do go with no UMD will new games be released via store and UMD? or will sony say screw psp 1000 thru 3000 owners?
Exactly, no UMD screws all the old owners and forces them to buy new memory sticks and HDD via PS Store, if that's how Sony start's releasing them. Like Ben said before, we shouldn't have to upgrade our 'consoles' every time just to play the games that are supposed to be played on the console it's made for. Biggest threat so far is running out of space on HDD or Memory Stick and requiring us to buy new ones.
You can use the PSN store from a PSP direclty.
All you need to do is google a 4-8GB MemoryStick Pro Duo, I paid $40 for an 8GB stick a few months ago, they should be pretty common at that price (or there abouts) now. With a PC or PS3 to act as a host, you can stretch that 8GB pretty much as much as you like. besides the vast majority of games come no where close to the 1.8GB capacity of an UMD, so with an 8GB stick, you won't have to worry.
Not a Tekken fan but this is cool.
Nice upskirt shot by the way!
Namco has announced Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny for PSP

I too never really liked Tekken. Give me a new Darkstalkers!! And wish they'd bring the Darkstalkers Collection over here. It's been out for 4 years in Japan 🙁 Also waiting for Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny to be released over here this year.
!!!!!!!!!!!
hmmmm this is quite challenging, i spose it will be quite down graded and look like T5:DR?
that is not a bad thing! Dark Resurrection was almost ps2 quality, just a gorgeous game.
T6 is the best fighting game ever I always play the imported Japanese version of it at the arcade place
You should be able to play downloaded PSP games on your PS3. That shouldn't be hard to do, and some people would buy them giving them some more money.
If that were the case people wouldnt buy PSP's, There is method behind there madness
Well I thought about that…but really people buy portable systems and games to play them on the go. At least I think that's why people buy portable systems. If you have a PSP then you likely play it on the go, and if the games is the same for the PSP and PS3 you would likely buy the PSP version.
Tekken 6
GT5
Dissidia Final Fantasy
Little Big Planet
MotorStorm
WOW……… finally a year with libraries worth looking at
I think some screenshots are in need for this, its quite puzzling, im questioning why should i buy this when i have T5 on the PSP. I'll get the PS3 version no doubt.
I'm not really sure about Tekken 6? like I've got Tekken: Dark Resurrection so will Tekken 6 replace T5 if it's a huge upgrade and features support for edited chars on Tekken 5 to be copied to T6?
Not sure which to get. Tekken 6 for playstation 3 or playstation portable.
….. I would have thought that would have been obvious…
I thought there was no tekken 6 in psp?
