Ubisoft Announces Tenchu: Shadow Assassins For PSP

Although the Metal Gear Solid series always ruled the stealth kingdom, there have been lesser known competitors that fared quite well in the past. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell franchise is probably the leading competitor, but there have also been the likes of Syphon Filter and Tenchu .

Well, they're supposedly working on Syphon Filter 5 , and as you can see by this Ubisoft Twitter update , a new Tenchu is headed to Sony's PSP. It's Tenchu: Stealth Assassins – previously released on the Wii – and it's slated to launch in the U.S. some time this month, and in Europe at some point in April. This should come as good news to handheld aficionados, who haven't had a Tenchu installment since Time of the Assassins in 2006. The latter wasn't a stellar title by any stretch of the imagination, and unfortunately, the series has gone downhill since the original wowed critics and gamers alike. It has been over 10 years since then, though, and although Wrath of Heaven on the PS2 was decent, Tenchu just hasn't managed to regain its initial glory. But we have high hopes for Shadow Assassins , which may actually benefit from this transition from the Wii to the PSP. The game really wasn't bad at all on the Wii, so why can't we have expectations for the portable version? We love that grappling hook!  And remember the rice balls?

We're starting to see plenty of potential for the 2009 PSP software lineup, and that's good news. The rumors for the PSP 2 have yet to be confirmed, but even if it doesn't arrive this year, there's a chance we'll see another redesigned handheld (like the PSP-4000) for the holiday season. Either way, we'll need the top-notch software, and we think it's coming…

People bash Sony too much sometimes, that they're blind to everything else. On the subject at hand, Tenchu always seemed interested to me, but I never once bought it, as many other games are on (or were on) my list to buy. I think I might pick this one up.

the problem with the psp is that it's a portable HARDCORE game console, and well, there aren't that many hardcore games out for it.

yah that is true, but in years past it HAS had sweet games on it. if you dont agree, talk to my 40+ PSP games. oh if u hate that, then how about my 60+ PS2 games =)

lol all im trying to say is yah there have been few hardcore games on the PSP, but there will always be HC games through and through.

Since I'm from NJ(not the E.O. area) I'm just wondering why you bashed NJ for the 2nd time??????
Have you ever even been up here, or did you just read something negative about NJ?

Myself, I think it could be from your own state, and a E.LA or Compton thing. Or maybe some people just never make their grades.

Anyways, NJ doesn't talk that way(well, except for a few mafia bosses who live here).

So, in the immotal words that our NJ wiseguys say…..
"Jus Fogetaboutit" on the NJ wisecracks"

OK, Cous?

My friend Mr. Roman plays on the PBA tour and a few years ago was in NJ for a tournament. Anyways while in NJ he said it was the worst time of his life, said it was dirty, the people were rude, and the porn shops were full of early 90's porn. I've never been to NJ so I'm still holding out hope.

@LimitedVertigo,
I'm in a very nice suburb setting, between Atlantic City & Ocean City.

I don't know in what part of NJ your friend played but I'm in the lower southern 1/3, and other than Camden, Atlantic City itself, and part of Pleasantville, it's clean & most people aren't rude. Don't really know of any porn shops in this area either.

Now with that said, I haven't been in every town in NJ and there's probably some places I would'nt like either(I don't like a few smelly industrial oil refinery towns up state), but that would certainly go for some places in every other state too.
I'll bet there's some areas in everyone's home state that they don't like either.

The worst thing I don't like about NJ is that it snows here, & I can't ride for a couple days afterwards, because ice, snow, & salt make it to dangerous.

Oh, I'm sorry to say that we DO have some of the biggest automobile as*holes drivers here.
