Rumor: Ready At Dawn Prepping New God Of War PSP Title

God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PSP was one of last year's best, but fans were disappointed to learn that developer Ready at Dawn wanted to move on to other platforms.

However, we've recently started hearing whispers that Ready at Dawn may not wish to abandon PSP projects so quickly. The handheld has been steadily growing in popularity, and because Chains of Olympus was such a huge hit, it would make sense for Sony to want another installment. This is where Joystiq comes in, as a supposed "trusted source" has confirmed that Ready at Dawn is working on a new God of War for the PSP. The insider said that while the developer did indeed ship all their PSP dev kits back to Sony last summer, they received new kits later in the year. Sony simply asked (or perhaps ordered) another GoW, and it appears that Ready at Dawn has complied. In fact, the development may be at a stage where a final launch could coincide with God of War III for the PlayStation 3. This would be awesome; being able to have two brand new GoW titles on store shelves for the PS3 and PSP, on the same launch day…? Wow. Of course, we're still awaiting any official announcement from Ready at Dawn, but we'd like to think this information is accurate.

When you do something like Chains of Olympus , chances are, both the publisher and fans are gonna want another effort, one that's similar in quality. These guys can do it, obviously, so it was just a matter of deciding to do it.

That's good business II really liked GoW for the psp and to be able to get a new GoW for psp and GoW3 for ps3 on the same day would be insane.

Pretty sure it would be best if they released GoW3 and GoWCOO2 about a month apart. If you only had the money for one then I am pretty sure you would go straight for GoW3. Then that would fulfill your GoW cravings and you might not end up with the PSP one for a while. I would get both but other people might not. Not everyone is as awesome as I am. 😛

Feb. 2010 – God of War PSP – Appetizer
Mar. 2010 – God of War 3 – Main Course
Perfect.

I never really believed they would get PSP game development back up again as they claimed a couple of months back.

Well done Sony.

Wait, they sent in their kits, then got new ones? An early PSP2 build perhaps?

makes most sense. they defo sent back their old dev kits so if there is gonna be a new psp (on rumour) and a new game (on rumour) both these rumours coincide, so unless its a big hoax, its definately viable

If only the psp had a battery that lasted more than three hours. CoO still the best portable game you can get.

Hopefully the PSP2 removes the UMD so it can have a battery life past 3hrs.

No, if they remove the UMD it will all be downloadable, and not everyone has a credit card to buy these games.

And if you have to download it, you will not be able to lend the game to a friend. Unless you want to lend your entire PSP to your friend, which I bet you don't want to.

Also if it is downloaded, it will take up a lot of HDD space, (Assuming they use a HDD) then you will be forced to either buy a new one or buy some kind of portable memory stick.

The current UMD idea is good for me. Unless you use some kind of other disk media.
But no HDDs.
