New PSP Only Available Via Software Bundles In Europe

Isn't that one of the sleekest electronics units you've ever seen? Oh yes, very attractive. But if European gamers want to pick up the freshly redesigned PSP, they're going to have to resign themselves to getting a piece of software with it. Well, at least at first.

Unveiled at this week's Leipzig Games Convention and later confirmed via press release from SCEA, the PSP-3000 features an enhanced LCD screen, a built-in microphone and Skype compatibility, plus a few other new features.  SCEA confirmed two separate bundles for North America, but the handheld should also go on sale by itself in mid-October as well. Apparently, this is not the case in Europe. According to SCEE president David Reeves in speaking with the official PlayStation UK site, the PSP-3000 will only be available in the UK and other parts of Europe as a package deal.

"We're going to introduce PSP-3000 in October, and this will be sold initially as part of a bundle, with a piece of software. During this period, PSP-2000 will remain as the base PSP model."

At the very least, though, you will have some options. The PSP-3000 will come bundled with either FIFA 09 , Buzz! Master Quiz , or the new Harry Potter handheld adventure. All will go on sale across Europe on October 15, at exactly the time U.S. gamers will be receiving their bundles. Now, the only thing left to do is wait and see how long it takes before Euro gamers can purchase the PSP-3000 as a standalone unit.
