Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G Ships Two Million

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G may be the PSP's fastest selling game, and is well on its way to being the system's second best seller, behind Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. Capcom has announced that the game has cleared 2-million units in shipment.

Portable 2nd G has been consistently selling extremely well in Japan, debuting with nearly 900k sold, then taking it another 800k over the next three weeks. The week of April 14th-20th, Media Create reported the game selling 124k more copies, bringing the total tally up to 1.7M as of April 20th.

At this rate's pace, we expect Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G to break 2-million sold in about another three or four weeks. The game has demonstrated significant staying power, and so its year-end sales should be notably higher, perhaps even approaching 3-million. Still, with a potential North American and European release still on the table, the game has a good chance of overtaking Vice City Stories as the PSP's best seller.

Seriously though how different could it be from Monster Hunter Freedom 2?

They added a lot of stuff to it and they made the whole experience better. More customizations and things like that. The first Monster Hunter for the PSP did really well, too. It's a shame that Monster Hunter isn't going to be on the PS3, though.

They should release a Monster Hunter game on the PS3 yearly to make the PS3 bigger than the Wii in Japan.

They should back port it to the PS2 later this year. Not that I don't support the PSP but seriously, if they were to back port this to the PS2 they could get more sales. I really doubt that the first wii iteration will be as any good as any of the Sony iterations. (Combination of my Sony fanboy~ism and the initial reactions of the Japs when they heard of the switch.)

Overall, I sorta like the Monster Hunter games. Their quest based system is enjoyable sometimes. It's open so I have the choice to go out and do what I want, when I want. And the best part, the large selection of equipment.

Im with you there, Warukyure. Especially on the fanboy~ism! lol But think of what they could do with the cell processor if it came out on the PS3. First off, it would generate tons of sales for the PS3, and they could make the game so large it would rival other games like Oblivion in terms of the vastness of its world.

But to add to my earlier post, that is Monster Hunter freedom 2, Advent. I misread your post and didn't realize what you had said. Oopsie!

I still have my Monster Hunter for my PSP and I love it, I dunno its just a certain type of game for certain types of people, altho I am asian I don't think that has to do with my love for Monster hunter I mean…I also love Patapon, Loco Roco, Dynasty warr…hey wait a second 😛

P.S, if we see something that hasn't been mentioned…where do we submit it to? Cuz MGOnline has a new patch 1.02 to download I did it this morning, thankfully it was only a 15 minute wait but I didn't have time to try to get on or anything, work and all 🙁
