Crysis 2 was excellent but prior to that release, everyone was wondering if console gamers would ever see the original.
After the sequel launched, we sorta lost hope. But surprise! On GTTV, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli acknowledged the long-standing request and announced that Crysis would arrive in downloadable form on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade next month. Technically a "remastered" version, this new iteration of Crysis will boast new lighting effects and new Nanosuit skills.
No price or exact date just yet, but it's enough to know the game is coming. If you enjoyed Crysis 2 on your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, you'll probably want to check out the first title; it's plenty fun and of course, it looks great (yes, even on a console). Now, of course, we're interested to hear about Crysis 3 …although we assume we'll have to wait a while.

Thanks but no thanks.I'll be spending my $$$ on the Black Ops Zombie map pack instead.Btw.Why does the ad right above the comments say"Sony Playstation 3 160Gb System $299.99" still?Ya might wanna update your ads to reflect the actual price of a 160 Gb PS3.$249.99.:)
$15 for maps vs $20 for a huge, expansive game?
You made the right move. =P
Claire.
I agree crysis 1 is supposed to even b better than 2. Plus its a whole game. Crysis makes black ops look like a 5 pixel side scroller. This sounds like a great psn download.
LOL…okay you enjoy your overpriced map pack. I love how it's become normal this generation to buy a game for $60 and within a year spend another $60 for a few additional maps.
@BigStack007
You were kidding right???, right???
Lol BigStack!
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
Crysis still goes for $29.99 on Steam. How much will they charge on PSN/XBLA?
edit: $19.99.
Maybe it will be discounted for PSN+? The price is still too high for an old game.

it says no price or date available yet in the article.
Converted to my currency $19.99 looks like a good deal for a remastered version of a full retail game.
What's the typical price for a regular PSN game in USD?
I really loved crysis 2. one of the best shooters i've played in a while. That being said, i'd love to play crysis but next month bf3 comes out. plus i'm getting fifa so i'll have to pass. there are so many other games coming out in october too. i definitely won't be able to get this even if its $15-$20.
Who did see this coming. lol.
Yeah I know! Just, wow.
I didn't, but was hopping for it
Hop on then, grasshopper! 😉
sweeeet i really wanna play crysis 🙂
lol omg the balls required to release a 4 year old game in the midst of this autumns crazed release schedule… Too cool. I'm really starting to like Crytek.
D1p. But man, I want the armour voice from C2!

Now I seem to remember a statement from these yodels that this game was "impossible" on the current consoles.
hmm, so that now officially translates to, impossible with the kind of effort we were willing to invest.
Anyway, I've played Warhead. It was good stuff.
The super openness of the island maps makes for a great play.
I'm somewhat surprised that they weren't confident enough in a boxed retail release. Oh well, I think even $40 new for this would still be a very worthwhile investment, supposing that the port comes over all intact.
I'd buy it as boxed retail too, easy.
Boxed copy only for me from here on out.
Sorry RE4, RE C-V, and Crysis. :_(
Actually they said it was impossible to port it to consoles using their current engine with the same quality done on PC. So basically now in 2011 they've decided to give console gamers a watered down version of Crysis which IMO is still better than not having it at all.
Hmmm, well, I read into that '07 interview. I suppose I could agree with you even if you didn't state it verbatim. Though, dont be too down on it. it's not entirely watered down. They stated it has been improved in ways. See Ben's comment:
"Technically a "remastered" version, this new iteration of Crysis will boast new lighting effects and new Nanosuit skills."
I hope the nano suits are more like Crysis 2 in upgrades.
stop putting words into there mouth, they said it would be impossible to bring crysis to consoles the way it is, not thats its impossible totally.
cervats always said we could but we would have to change allot of things which is what they have done.
I sort of want to argue this because there's obviously some semantics at play here.. but I don't care to.
You win, I lose.
2-points for you 😉
"Like". When people say something is impossible, thats an opportunity to school them by proving anything can happen at any time for no reason. <3 Quantum Physics.
Brilliant move, maybe Mass Effect can learn by this example.
They would if they could but they can't.
Yah, Mass Effect's not coming ever.
MS owns the rights to the 1st ME, so as everyone else has said….no.
Can consoles run Crysis? Sorry, had to say it. 😉
On max settings, no.
lol
Teh bestest shooter evAR reduced to consolez dlc??
And PC gamers everywhere are rolling in their pc gaming graves.
Huh? I was fortunate to enjoy this game in all its glory back in 2007. I have no problem with a PC game being ported to consoles. I'm glad my friends with consoles are now able to enjoy the same game I did a few years ago.
A heads up, lately you've been acting like a jerk…ease up.
You and maybe 10 others LV =p So at what settings did you enjoy it at in 2007. And if they were at very/ultra high, what kind of money did you have to lay down in order to play it like that?

Oh, and I thnk Alienage might be drunk =p
If this is cheap you can probably count me in. I really like the lush open world jungle theme. Crysis 2 was nice, but as good as I thought it would be.
I might get it or just share it from my brother. The original crysis wasn't any good at all. Besides having amazing graphics the game was very meh. I've had it on my pc for awhile. Played it on my pc, beat it and never touched it ever again.
GREAT game and far better than the sequel.
*Far* better, even? In what way?
Storyline, gameplay, setting, and "wow" factor.
Oh, just the entire package. 😀
This is gonna be great.
I've enjoyed the sequel so far, the first one shoul be even more pleasant
@Trophy: Oh man I *love* the sequel so this is like xmas. Two Crysis games within a year? Hell yeah!

Maybe
Too bad there really isn't much of a game under there outside of all the initial excitement there was of the visuals.
Expected after the ESRB listing a couple of months back, but I was really hoping for a retail release. Too bad.
I know!!!
I won't count it out. If they're to release the first Crysis, the expansion Warhead will probably be right around the corner. I think judging as to how it does online they release a bundled Maximum Edition pack, or something like it in retail.
@Temjin: Ahaaa – a boxed bundled version later? Now that's good thinking. I bet so too!
Is a good move for the fans, but no thanks I'm not one of them.
and that CoD map dude is an ahole.
