We can't be far away from an official Grand Theft Auto V unveiling. We just can't be.
And when that happens, we should probably anticipate some early news of a Red Dead Redemption follow-up. We have to forget that Rockstar has a couple blockbuster franchises now; RDR sold a truckload of copies and the critics loved it. There's little doubt that we'll see another installment and the studio must love the idea of two GTAs.
I still can't wait for GTAV, but RDR had a huge impact on me, and I'm not alone. I hate Westerns – always have – but for some reason, I just loved John Marsten's character and the atmosphere was fantastic. Publisher Take-Two loved the money the game generated and you'll be hard-pressed to find someone who didn't like the Wild West epic. Yeah, GTAV is a top priority right now.
But don't think a RDR sequel or prequel is far behind. You won't be seeing official unveilings of RDR2 (or whatever they call it) the day after GTAV floods the Internet, but hey, GTAV can't be too far away…can it?
If GTA stays the way 4 was then I definitely am more excited for another Red Dead.
Even though I can't wait for GTAV and RDR2, I'm still hopefully for Agent.
Off topic:
Did anyone hear that Skyrim is going to be on one disk for the 360? Kinda nervous about that.
Serious? Just rumors or what? I thought Skyrim was going to be "epic" in every meaning of the term.

Let's hope it uses their disc that was supposed to add a gig to their already small space.
There's this comment on the article : "I guess Bethesda will have some assuring to do that the 360 version won't take a hit in terms of visuals."
Since I don't have an account there, I'll reply here: The 360 won't, but the PS3 version sure as hell will.
Really, the PS3 version could have been closer to the PC in terms of visuals but, no, it'll just have been scaled down just so it could look like the 360 version. It's more sad than anything else. And also the fact that no one does anything about it annoys the hell out of me.
Maybe the ps3 version have their own set of higher resolution cutscenes and/or textures? Or have they issued that annoying "looks identical on both consoles" statement?
Its hard to believe how massive this game is going to be unless they did a hell of a compression job.
Beamboom, unfortunately, the annoying one.
Isn't Redemption already the 2nd in the series?
Sort of, Red Dead Revolver was different. Not open world and stuff.
I was about to say that. I consider it a sequel, even if it is more of a spiritual successor. Think Demon's Souls to Dark Souls.
OT
Ben, are you going to change the poll?
shhh, we are only supposed to comment on the articles now 🙂
Yeah, I forgot. I'll change it tomorrow.
I bet it's a lot further out than that. I doubt it'll be on the PS3.

I finished RDR last week and it's one of my favorite games this generation and certainly has one of my favorite stories ever. It felt like I was playing a movie and I loved everything about the game.
Did you play much MP with it? There are some great co-op modes in there that you really need to try them all before you shelf the game for good, since you enjoyed the game so much.
Ya, I played several hours of it and was surprised at how nice the people were. I ended up playing in the free roam area for over an hour with a group of 4 that all sounded like they were under 18 but they were damn good and surprised me with how organized they were.
We took over an entire town by moving from roof to roof. The best part was when I died after this guy came at me riding a bull. RDR would have been my 2010 GOTY had I actually played it then.
Yeah, the bull was great. I think you have to reach level 50 for the bull? My memory is hazy on that one.
That is a great observation about how nice the players were. I found that to be the case also. I was looking at my friends list, and most of them I met from playing together and sticking together during that game. Great memories of going town to town chasing other parties, seeing who the badass posse was. Finding people who were on the verge of a trophy and killing them right before they got the trophy. Ahhhh, good times. Jawk and I only got to play one night together. That was the first night I got it. I didn't know what to do. After that, I played it exclusively till I got the plat.
"It felt like I was playing a movie" – that's exactly how it felt like, and that is such a great achievement considering how open and unrailed (unless you take the train… *snicker*) the world is.
It really is a masterpiece, that game.
We saw this one coming, it's a no brainer.
looking forward to both. i wasn't the biggest fan of GTA IV but i'd still say i loved it. 3 vc & sa are still the best. as for RDR i loved everything about it. it showcased R* at what they do best everything about it was perfect the amazingly epic story. the breathtaking open world. sensational soundtrack. off the chart cast of characters. & the absolutely 2nd to none writing. they completely nailed it. plus i just have a soft spot for westerns love all the eastwood classics!
RDR still is and will always be a memorable experience. One of the best games of this generation. I haven't dipped my toe into the Marsten's world for a couple months since my PS3 basted – and yes I will get it repaired soon – so I am kind of missing it. Getting withdrawal symptoms.
Anyway RDR2 will be very very welcome. So it will be great to get more news on this as information is made available to us mere mortals.

I wish we were friends on the PSN….
We will be… once my PS3 has been repaired… 🙂

I want both!!!
Really excited for new games in both franchises. A GTAV announcement must be just around the corner, or so I'd like to believe. All-time favourite franchise, alongside MGS.
Well, sources are saying that we're just around the corner from a Max Payne 3 information blowout, so we'll have to wait for that to subside before GTA: Next at least. And of course Agent, and we're about due for a new Midnight Club too… You know, Rockstar actually have a lot of series to abuse. Now give me Red Dead Reclamation.

They do? Awesome.
Just had a thought: imagine if the next GTA is actually a sequel to RDR, where you play as the descendant of John Marsten and find out all about his family line… Talk about cross-pollination. Maybe Jack ended up with a big pile of gold and someone's stolen it. and it's up to Joey to get back his heretofore unknown inheritance. Or maybe that's just crazy and I should shut up.
World, sure they do, I mean, they've still Smugglers Run, Manhunt, Bully and Noire that I didn't mention

I wonder if they have any real plans towards Manhunt or Bully
Yeah I really loved this game very much. Everything in it is done marvelously.
*I still have 4 online trophies to plat this thing anyone cares to help hehehe. My PSN ID is AshFalll
It will be interesting to see where they take GTAV, not so much the location but what direction the series takes.
GTAV, RDR2, Agent, Max Payne.. I guess with Team Bondi hitting the kids my hope of NY Noire is also on the skids…
You know what RDR was missing? A scene with Marsten lighting a match on a local guy's hunchback.
Cookie to whoever gets that Spaghetti Western title right 🙂
For a Few Dollars More.
Cookie may be sent to cookiejar@beamboom com 😉

ding ding, we have a wiener!
common sense!
though they need to get agent and MP3 out the door before they even start thinking of either GTA or RDR!
nice to see some new screens for MP3 released today, about bloody time!
now R*, how about a estimated release date?
I'm not really excited about GTAV, the last one gets me bored and I was unable to complete it, about RDR, please bring it!!
Send GTA V back to it's home country :p
I loved RDR, single player was everything I could ask for in a game and the MP was a lot of fun too. I much preferred it over GTA4 though I have enjoyed every entry in that series. I am more excited for another RDR right now than the next GTA but definately looking forward to both.
I don't post an awful lot here but am a daily reader…including the comments. I suppose I'm the quiet guy in the corner that listens more than participates but love the site and the community. PSN is borderline14330, feel free to add me and I think I really need to check out HOME…haven't been there in a long time and I hear it has really become something good as of late.

I expect to hear about Agent someday.
Red Dead Redemption was a sequel as far as I know. Came after Red Dead Revolver.
I was greatly impressed by both GTAIV and RDR when they came out. GTAIV is starting to show it's age but it's still loads of fun. Can't wait to hear news on these sequels
love both of them
I loved GTA IV and RDR. I think it's definitely time we heard at least something about GTA. But I think it will be a while before any info about the next RDR title.
