Release Dates For Rochard, PAYDAY, And Sideway

Downloadable games are getting bigger and better with each passing month.

And now, Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) has announced launch dates for a trilogy of new digital titles. The PSN will soon receive PAYDAY: The Hiest , Rochard , and Sideway: New York , a trio of accomplished and hopefully entertaining adventures. Said Chris Sturr, SOE executive director of business development and corporate strategy:

"We are seeing increased growth and popularity in the digital distribution of premium console games and therefore are delivering new AAA-quality titles like Rochard, PAYDAY: The Heist and Sideway: New York that address this trend head on. As one of the largest third-party publishers on PlayStation®Network with 9.7 million downloads to date, we continue to raise the bar for players with the introduction of three new original games that further complement our existing portfolio including Plants vs. Zombies™, DC Universe™ Online, Slam Bolt Scrappers, Free Realms®, Akimi Village and Acceleration of Suguri X Edition."

First up is Rochard , an "action-adventure, side-scrolling puzzle platformer" with a lot of promise. This one will arrive on September 27 and hold a $9.99 price tag. Then there's PAYDAY: The Heist , where you become a career criminal and attempt to execute high-stakes scores. It'll show up for PSN and PC users on October 4, with a cost of $19.99. Lastly, we have Sideway: New York , where you will play as Nox, "a graffiti artist sucked into a twisted graffiti world." It's a 2D adventure platformer set in a 3D world, and that concept alone is enough to intrigue us. It'll release on October 11 for $9.99.

I am really looking forward to Payday. It sounds intriguing to say the least.

However..

I am not looking forward to the digital age.

I'm getting Payday as well and I'm loving the digital age. Steam is your friend.

Yes, but I see it as a great example for other companies to mimic. I love the fact that I can buy/download a game on the PSN and not have to worry about scratching the disc or losing it. Digital purchases IMO are better than physical media.

I don't have a scratch on any of my discs, because i take care of them. 🙂 I also don't let anyone use them unless I'm watching them to see how they handle the disc, if I trust the person enough I'll let them borrow the game.

I'd like to think I take good care of my physical media but the fact is the shelf life of DVDs, CDs, and other physical media is not infinite and not as long as we'd like to think.

Even so, I still prefer physical over digital.

You'll love the deals World. I picked up Bioshock 1 and 2 for only $10 a few months ago. Hell they had Portal2 as a deal for a little over $20 over the summer.

I still don't have money for a real graphics card, but I can enjoy the classics.

Clamedeus,
Same here, almost all my cartridges & discs are mint & complete, except for a few unscrupulous sellers lying about the mint condition of a few oldies I've bought used over the net.

cant believe they cancelled the agency, but left this!
i mean come on, the agency was looking freaking awesome!

i mean they cancel the getaway 3 and 8 days which looked F*CKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
i mean look at that leaked footage of 8 days that leaked last week, remember thats from freaking 08!
NO game had visuals like that, destruction like that, and scale like that!
so they can that, for what?
freaking eyepet!
now they cancel the agency which was looking like the best MMO they ever created!
for what?
soon they will be cancelled uncharted and selling off ND just so they can fund move fitness!
