PSN Welcomes Harmony Of Despair Next Month

Gotta love Castlevania .

Konami has announced that Castlevania: Harmony of Despair will arrive on the PlayStation Network in September. This 2D side-scrolling adventure will include the "Beauty, Desire, Situation Dire" pack for free; this piece of DLC includes the Pyramid of Ruin level plus new characters (Julius Belmont and Yoko Belnades).

The game already brings us several recognizable players from past entries in the long-running franchise, and let's not forget about that all-new 6-player online multiplayer mode. For PSN users, gamers will get a chance to sample an offline multiplayer mode that supports four friends. The environments in Harmony of Despair are inspired by the likes of Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin , and the main draw is to play cooperatively if you've got an interested buddy.

There's even a Survival Mode where you can test your skills against others; see where you rank on the Leaderboards. Well, just about anything with "Castlevania" in the title gets our attention, anyway.

Can't wait. In relation to the other topic I thought Castelvania : LOS would of been better if it were a new IP instead of being a Castlevania.

In fact it was a new IP at the beginning of development, it was only later on that Konami decided it should be a Castlevania so it was then altered a bit to be one.

I got awhole 55 bucks in my psn wallet just waiting for it (yes castlevania plus all its dlc is practically the price of a new retail game heh)

This is great news. At the same time I cannot wait to hear of a sequel to Lords of Shadow! That was one of my favorite games last year! 🙂

Great so isn't just the same game the 360 got last year, but has some free things and great extras.

Can't wait for it.

umm the only extras over the 360 version are 5 (or 6) player online co op (as opposed to 4) and 4 player local co op… everything else is the same.

Local co op and two new characters are great additions.

Mayhaps I get this. I'd rather put it on my PSP though.

Yes it would be cool, at least it would be great having this one on the Vita.

Don't get your hopes up too high, folks. I downloaded this last year for 360 and while it's a fun game that will definitely appeal to 2D Castlevania fans, it's more of a multiplayer experiment than a full-on game. Again, it's fun, and it's good for the price, but it's not the full-fledged 2D Castelvania chapter a lot of us have been clamoring for on consoles. (Konami, seriously, make an HD, 2D, downloadable Castlevania for the consoles.)

I was highly disappointed when I got this last year on the 360. Probably the worst Castlevania title ever.

I agree. I was very dissapointed too.
