Okay, okay, lower the torches and pitchforks.
After accusing DICE and EA of stripping down Battlefield 3 for the sake of generating retailer-exclusive downloadable content in the UK, we have some good news: that retail-exclusive bonus stuff will be available to everyone after the game's release. It's just a timed exclusive for retailers, that's all…and that's normal. Furthermore, the Physical Warfare pack will be free when it launches to the world later this year; if you want it earlier, it'll also be a pre-order bonus. In short, nobody is going to miss anything, and nobody will have to pay extra for anything, either. Is the fact that this pack is free a response to the earlier outrage? Well, you be the judge of that.
Gamers just get a little antsy when they suspect a publisher of removing original content and making us pay for it later.

funny no one complains with torches for the COD slop that they make ppl pay for every year an how it comes out 2 months early on junkbox an they laugh at the ps3 owners. Why i didn't purchase BO an won't be getting there new garbage. Sorry about rant that sick of COD i could puke.
Really, I only see complaining when it comes to COD.
Yeah I'd say the outrage prompted this, but that's some sly maneuvering on their part.
Some sense prevails finally…

Yeah it's hard to be mad at FREE DLC, even if it's announced before the game comes out. But still…I really REALLY hate the whole retailer exclusive DLC stuff.
It's the best way to get ppl to pre order their games… I think medal of honor did this 2, didn't they?
In any case it was still cut from the disc so that retailers could give them out as preorder bonuses.
Or worse, they are on the disc and the code just unlocks them (RE5 anyone?)
My sentiments exactly. Ah well, they have to appease the retailers somehow, and trying to get extra purchases for them is a way to go about it. Though this announcement kind of nullifies pre-order incentives.
Sweet, nice to know some developers aren't out to steal your money (glares at Activision)
Like with Bad Company 2, I'll happily pay for something as big as the Vietnam expansion, but little things like map packs and a few extra guns should be offered as an incentive for players to really get into the game.
so basically they are saying theres no point of getting the limited ed BF3? that everything will be unlocked after a month? if thats the case fine, seen whats offered in limited ed, but still no word on a collectors ED, they should have a camera rc helicopter or something cool. or did COD already think of that?
This was never part of the LE. Only a pre-order incentive. The LE features Back to Karkand, which has four maps remade from BF2, though that pack will likely be available for purchase after a month or so (any takers on an estimate for the price?)
uprage is not because of people getting it for free, its because of if people dont preorder it there getting a unfair advantage!
almost every game does this these days and is exactly why i dont play games online anymore.
well, that and the f*cking 10 year olds swearing like a sailor and blasting that shitty RMB so f*cking loud it feels like my windows are going to break!
KZ3 hig edition for example, gave out free points extra xp and such which created a unfair advantage for who could not afford it.
tis why i stopped playing KZ3, every single game id play id be up against people triple my rank!
how the f*ck is a level 1 with barely any upgrades suppose to compete against a level 10 with the works?
talk about david vs golith!
It's ironic that you complain about swearing then you do it throughout your post, the name of the music is R 'n B, triple your rank would be 3 if you were level 1, and finally this DLC comes out for free for everyone later on.
Oh, and David won the fight with Goliath….that was like, oh I don't know, the moral…
what, so because he won the fight the unfair matchup magically disappears?
so what if its coming out later for everyone, that does not solve the problem that people are going to have a unfair advantage/disadvantage.
I saw BF3 PS3 footage and it was awesome! It was on Jimmy Fallon Live last night. Obviously not as good a new powerhouse PC, but it was very good. Excited!
I knew this was going to be the case as it was with BFBC2. Almost all of their DLC was free with the exception of Onslaught and Vietnam. The actual map packs were free and most of the weapon add ons as well.
