Too many people have been calling THQ's Homefront a "failure." The sales just don't reflect that analysis.
The merely average review scores caused the publisher's stock to plummet, but those investors should've waited: day one sales for the title hit 375,000 in North America alone and now, after a full week of availability, the emotionally charged shooter has surpassed the 1 million mark in sales, and shipment totals have topped 2.4 million globally. EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich expects the final tally to come in at around 3 million and that smells like a definite success. Said Divnich in a note to investors:
"The 375,000 day one unit sales announcement demonstrated that Homefront was on track to surpass 1 million units in its first week and produce a ship-in figure in excess of 2 million units. The market's narrow view and overreliance on aggregated review scores prevented analysts and investors from observing the big picture–Homefront will be a success for THQ."
If you read our review, you'll know we recommend it…sort of. The campaign is a little too short, the multiplayer is a little too bare, and there have been a host of glitches after a recent update. But again, we must stress that Homefront has its strong – perhaps even memorable – points.

Shows why going multiplatform is the best way to make money
Ask Ninja Theory what they think of that.
It was always multiplat.
Also the easiest way to nail review scores like this did.
"Ask Ninja Theory what they think of that."
LOL! Indeed!
HAHA…Ninja Theory. Okay, multiplat with a military FPS, does that sound right guys? This genre is hot and Homefront of course proves this. Now lets compare KZ3 first week to Homefront…lets forget exclusivity and exclusive quality, etc, but straight up numbers…going multiplatform doesn't insure more money, but staying exclusive does have a higher probablity of bringing in less income because of the obvious. I can't people would disagree with this assessment. Forget quality and reveiw scores, but look at the numbers.

Regardless of number, I'm thankful that some studios value quality over quantity.
I know I do.
Jesus Christ…people must really hate FPS's…lol
Quality > Quantity
Considering that the majority of sales for this game is on the 360, the only thing I see is that putting a shooter on the 360 is going to make you money.
This has nothing to do with quality…this is about companies choosing the best route that gives them the best chance of increasing profit. Just like Crytek, developers know staying exclusive hurts profits and appeal. Quality products take alot of money to make, this is why Rockstar makes multiplat games. You just can't say exclusive developers push for great quality, more or less…multiplat developers half a** it. I get what everyone is saying, just saying…multiplat…chance of more profit (forget this quality argument).
It isn't on my radar but I say good for them, I've always taken a shining to the scrappy underdog of the bunch.
I know your not a big fan of shooters but you should pick it up sometime just so COD has competition.

I'd wait for Battlefield 3 for that. At least then you'll be getting a game that's worth the price of admission.
Nothing is out of the question at the right price.
Surprising considering this game was just a step above a pile of steaming….:)
I heard from a few friends that the kill streaks somewhat ruin the game.
IE- MW2.
Good to hear.
Now let's hope they patch everything that needs fixing & hopefully Homefront 2 will that much better for it, plus a much longer SP story.
What he said.
I'm happy for THQ on this. Now we'll most likely see a sequel with more to the story and hopefully a lot of the problems fixed. I laugh at all the investors. That's what they get for thinking mediocre reviews mean bad sales.
homefront mp is pretty fun it puts things from BF and CoD in it. I know everyone is so hyped about BF3 but really the graphics can be the most amazing thing ever but if the game play sucks then whats the point. I like homefront for the game play not the graphics. CoD graphics are horrible yet people love it. Don't hate on this game till you play it. I'm glad to see this game hit a million because its showing that people don't care about what the reviews say. CoD gets a 9/10 every time for the same game every year.
Its on my rent list… SP is to short for my $60
Why do these mediocre shooters always pull in the big numbers?
Oh well, much rather this than COD.
10-13 year old boys with mommies who can't say no.
Hmm, I'll have to find me some of those moms.
hahaha nice World…nice.
I had hopes that this would have been better, but I didn't actually expect it to be. Due to the shortness and all that, by the time I get it, hopefully it's fixed.
$10 bargain bin price is the best I can pay on such a short experience.
I hope this means a sequel, because Homefront showed a lot of potential in all areas and I think they could make HF2 an 8.5+ title.
USA vs North Korea.
Defend your home country.
Become a true patriot.
That's enough to convince most American and North Korea haters to purchase this game.
Not to mention this is a good game, not a bad or great game.
not surprising considering the amount of marketing there is for it!
my lord i have not seen this many advertisements for a game since halo reach came out!
if sony would stop being so tight a$$ and actually spent some cash like this KZ3 would of sold at least 5 times better!
no wonder the 360 sales are kicking the royal sh*t out of the ps3 here!
sony needs to learn you need to spend money to make money!
That's impressive considering I have seen nothing but stacks of copies of this game out in my neck if the woods. A local Walmart had a midnight release dealie and it was all crickets.
LMAO…serioiusly, WTF is so important about homefront
I think this game could have been a case of the publicity being so bad for this game, that people had to pick it up just to see why, which ended up being good for the game.
Kind of like what the Wolfenstein guys did when they said they would give you your copy of Wolfenstein if it sold a million copies in the first day or something like that.
It's like when you hear about a horrible movie..you have to watch it just to see how horrible it is.
HOMEFRONT.
Awesome looking game. People are just looking for a different game to play besides call of duty all the time. I guess this one substitutes it well.
blank line is right. sony does not do enough to promote its games. kz3 hasn't even sold 500,000 copies yet. ps3 sales have been dropping too.
