The first week of the SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs beta test is in the books, and the developers have called it "incredibly helpful."
Just because it was invite-only doesn't mean they got limited feedback; "tens of thousands of posts" hit the beta forum loaded with opinions, feedback and general criticism. But now it's time to get even more people involved: as revealed at the PlayStation Blog , PlayStation Plus members will get a crack at the SOCOM 4 beta this week. Check out the agenda: they started with Suppression, Classic Suppression, Scrum (Custom), and Community Day Classic (Custom) on Tuesday, and they'll move along and test everything from Uplink to Last Defense to Bomb Squad. This will run through Monday and then maybe we'll get an update concerning public access…don't you want to gain access to this play test? SOCOM 4 is one of the most promising titles of the year, and one that might really benefit from PlayStation Move…
Do you plan on using Move for this game? Did you use the motion sensing for Killzone 3 ? We're just wondering if it has caught on…like back in the day of Duck Hunt .

I got the invite waiting inside of my Killzone 3 case. Does anyone know when the KZ3 codes will be accepted?
The 29th I believe, can't wait! And I'm picking up the move edition.
Private invite FTW! Got to play it before went public YES.
Yeah the Killzone codes can be redeemed on March 29th. if you want to try and get in earlier, Zipper has been giving away like 10 beta codes a day for the past week through Twitter, all you need to do is have a Twitter account, follow them watch for there beta code giveaway tweets and re-tweet that and you have a chance to get in earlier than the 29th.

Me too, but since my PS3 red-lighted, It's now useless to me.
So here's what I'm going to do…
Once the "Killzone-enclosed code beta" starts, I will then post my SOCOM-4 beta code randomly in one of that day's threads & the very first one to punch it in, wins it. "So Happy Tactical Shooting"
Just let me know who managed to get it
Mine has a red light sometimes, then I turn it on and it's green 🙂
LOL! World, not funny. hahaha
World,
I'll trade ya….my PS3 even imitates a traffic light, first green, then yellow, then red.
And my red even blinks too.
naw I'll keep mine, sorry for your loss though.
I'd take it off of one of you guys, but I already have one from my KZ3 title. What you CAN do for me is go on now and let me know how it is since I don't have Plus. Or if anyone can post impressions that'd be awesome! This is one of the games I'm so on the fence with…
I dig it. I have never played a Socom game before. So far it's a lot of fun. Some of the mechanics remind of me MAG but that's a given since it's made by the same people. My only gripe is you can't switch which shoulder your looking over like you can in Uncharted and MGS4 by clicking the analog stick. Not a big deal though. The game seems like it's going to be a lot of fun. Especially if the single player is good. The graphics are pretty good too. Nice detailed environments, characters and guns.
Sounds good! Socom 2 was one of the first console games I played online and it was AMAZING. The game only really works when you're playing with people who 1)have headsets or 2) willing to listen and cooperate. I played the game for HOURS. However, when I first got my PS3 last year, one of the first games I bought (for like $10) was Socom: Confrontation. It was awful. Though I have high hopes for this game, I hope that they didn't "cod" it too much.
Yea a lot of people were disappointed by Socom Confrontation. Think that's why Sony asked Zipper to make 4.
Jawknee, i want the code. 😀
K, what's your PSN ID. I'll send it to you.
You didn't reply properly 😉
Kokushi
Epic Fail!
=)

World, LOL.
Sent. 🙂
*Prepares to test troll theory that you can't be disinterested in a PS3 exclusive on this site*
Yeah I have no interest in this.
LOL!
OMG are you kidding me world! Your a bloody troll! Freaking Xbox fanboy go play your gaylo and gears of fags! LOL jk jk jk haha. That's what you would get if you said that on IGN haha
haha
In that case World,
"You are NOT the next PlayStation Tester!".
no but I still get my requisite 2 haters in the thumbs down category. Can't win I guess.
i am downloading it as we speak. so burned out on fps. the comparison to mag worries me a little. i thought that game was was a mess.
a good third person shooter is what i'm looking for, so i remain hopeful.
Thanks, jawknee
No problem. 🙂
reply button, reply button, reply button.
I will drill it into everyone eventually. 😉
Socom 4 beta looks great in 3D by the way. 🙂
Will I see this comment in the next article too?
I'm feeling a bit sarcastic this evening, can you tell? =)
It's a rare moment were the same comment is relevant on two different threads. 🙂
True, just found it amusing that I read it in 2 articles in a row.
It is a good thing to post more than once though.
Might have to wait on this one. Just picked up DA2 for 25.00 off Amazon. Getting Crysis 2 and Shift 2 for my birthday. Oh wait Apocalypse got delayed. Nvm i'll make some room haha
Jawknee, so how does code thing work? I just download the beta on march 29 and thats it?
Because i just saw your msg but not any code.
I sent it again in a new message with instructions.
On the 29th just open the PSN store and select the Redeem Codes icon at the top right hand side. Enter the code and then you will be able to download the beta.
I really want to try this game out.
I have never played a socom game before, but I love strategy, I love tactics, I love a good high quality 3rd person shooter/action game.
So I have some decent hope for this game, especially with the move support. If the move controls are good, I'll be ordering that sharp shooter and a copy of this game sooner than I expected.
yeah they must be limiting the bandwidth…same problem here, took a little over 2 hours for me…..no good….reminds me of MAG (soley for the updates) plays nothing like it though!
be prepared for some extensive download time. the first download is a typical download, but once you luanch the game it goes to a 1270 mb download update you can't do in the background.
1270mb is a typical size for high quality demo's. It usually only take me about 10-15 minutes to download.
10-15 minutes for over a gig!? Damn I need your connection
Snorge it really just depends on whether or not I'm doing anything else at the time, if I'm online elsewhere or playing a game it can take 45 minutes, but if it's all alone then yeah.
I will say though that I have that socom 4 beta update going and I understand what Excelsior1 is talking about now, they must be limiting the bandwidth, because I left it to download with nothing else going and it's been 1 hour and it's only 31% done.
I am only guessing at the why, but it is ridiculously slow, the only other time I've had such a slow download was when it was from some place that limited your download speed.
I think I'm supposed to weigh in here and tell you guys how much fun the beta is, but I'm too busy playing it to say a lot.
And using the Move is kind of fun. You can definitely tell the difference in the games that were designed from day one with the Move in mind, and the games that were just updated later to be Move compatible.
I have been playing SOCOM 4 on and off for a week. I really like the graphics. I am not into Suppression/Deathmatch game mode on any game. I prefer objective based games and with limited modes on the beta, it is tough. However, I do like uplink, bomb squad, and last defense, they are just not all available every day right now. I also have had a lot of connection issues and serious lag issues. Some days are fine and some are just not worth the effort. Should I be worried because there are so few people on now and it is Zipper or should I not worry because it is just the beta? I probably will buy it for the campaign mode and at least a decent mp game. It may turn out to be a great mp game. I have the move sharpshooter but prefer not to use it on any game. I haven't put in the effort to get good at it. The controller is just easier.
I wouldn't worry because it's the beta. This is the time they work that stuff out, it's why they do beta's. Some problems you just won't see until their are thousands of people trying to access your server and play together.
correction.
US plus members get SOCOM 4 beta access!
🙁
sigh…….. sony giving us outsiders the middle finger YET AGAIN!
that brings the count to what?
900 trillion by now?
Playstation Plus really does seem like a good deal. Lucky for me, my friend has it, and I can game share everything from him without having to spend a nickel. 🙂
Apparently some people don't like to share. I think it's great that you can share psn stuff.
