Lest you forget, there's a great PlayStation 3 exclusive in March: Yakuza 4 .
And they kicked things off with a big bang, too. Sega held a launch party for the anticipated game; everyone gathered in the Hiro Ballroom in New York City for sushi, pool, a DJ, and a whole lot of game sampling. It's a fitting setting for a game in which we can relax with cute Japanese hostesses…after beating the tar out of baddies, of course. Check it out:
Yakuza 4 will on store shelves on Tuesday, March 15, and if you want an idea of the combat, download the demo off the PSN. We're pretty certain we received an invitation to that event above but…well, I'm busy. Granted, it might've made for an interesting video for our YouTube Channel but your solace is we have other plans for that.
Related Game(s): Yakuza 4
OMG! They should have invited me!
Anyway, this game deserves the love!
So sad that people pass on it because it's a pure Japanese(Eastern) game.
I compare Yakuza to Red Dead in terms of the East/West preferences in gamers, etc. Might be wrong, but that's how I'm seeing it.
Though, hope people do give this game a chance. No need to have played previous ones. Just get into this one and grab the other ones if you can/want.
Really cool cutscenes in the Yakuza series.
Stories are of the Yakuza series is just Epic,Especially the PS2 ones,Yakuza 1 and Yakuza 2
Kiryu Kazuma my fav character of all time!
Japanese Voice Acting for the win!

Yeah, I wish I was there =/.
Finally about bloody time SEGA USA does some marketing for the Yakuza games!
yeah, more of this is good. Some badass marketing never hurts.
I mean the Yakuza games are basically like your favorite action movies. People LOVE action movies.
Just need to at least market it a little bit.
@scarecrow
I hope the Uncharted crowd gets into the yakuza series from the first one because,these stories are on that level or even better!
I tried the demo…wasnt too much of a fan for real. Is the game fighting only or is it "loosley" the Japanese GTA? I want to like it…but Im not feeling it right now.
It's an action/adventure game. It's not supposed to be a GTA in any way shape or form.
I think those who have played Shenmue would understand it a little bit better.
It's much more story and activity driven than a GTA and there isn't a bunch of "steal this car, shot anyone you want" kind of mentality.
Give it a rent or borrow it from someone you know and give it a fair shake. It isn't just combat and it can't be classified as a Japanese GTA.
GTA type of open world game sucks!
Yakuza series is another genre by itself.Toshihiro Nagoshi came up with this in 2005,i'll tell u this,i played more yakuza 1 and 2 more than gta and Final Fantasy on the PS2!

In all fairness I wouldn't say that GTA style games suck. They're good for what they are and for those who enjoy them. I would however say that Yakuza rocks the socks off of GTA any day of the week, but that's just my opinion.
Ok cool, Im gonna give it another try. Of course its not something Im used to so I gotta get use to it, but I love "different" types of games! No disrespect with the Japanese GTA comment, but thats the only thing I could think to be the closest thing in my collection. Thanks alot!
Just saying Nagoshi isn't fond on GTA.
I haven't played the demo but I can tell you that since its a combat only demo you are missing out on all of the charm the series has in other areas.
try the yakuza 3 demo it will give you a much better idea of what to expect. The demo for 4 was pretty lame, but I guess they were just trying to show how the new characters feel in combat.
I kinda figured it wasnt fighting only, just not sure why they ONLY put hand to hand in the demo though. Any tips for combat, as I have found the dodging to be invaluable!
Try to master the camera, when you see a weapon on the street grab it and use it til your heart content,they fill your heath meter fast!, also move a lot to not get gangpwned.
Also this game uses a xp system to boost stats and techs..just saying there's a more things to do in a fight in the full game 😉
I am so getting this game! The 'perverted thoughts' mini-game, and the "BOUNCE" zoom-in when playing table-tennis were so funny!!

Cannot wait for Tuesday. I love the crap out of the Yakuza series and this is a day one for me without question. Sucks that I have class on Tuesday though. Guess I will be coming into work groggy and half awake Wednesday morning when I set the controller down.
I'm on Spring Break as of now 😉
You lucky lucky man you. California doesn't get Spring Break until the middle of April, and the school that my girlfriend's kids go to don't get it until the end of April which is going to make their visit weird when I have to stagger hanging out with them with also going to class in the evenings
15 Gonna be a triple combo for me, MK Demo,MvsC3 new characters and Yakuza 4.
For shame Ben, you should have sent me as a correspondent. Or "VP of Japanese Hostesses" if you like.
Hahaha sounds like a good idea, lets choose a representative for this kind of events when PSXtreme staff isn't available.
My vote goes to ''______________''

WHAT? blank line would just say everything sucks…then say it rules…then say it sucks…
Hehehe yes that's how he rolls.
Just imagine him representing us there, people would think.
''Damn sure those Psxtreme fellas are a bunch of aholes ''
and of course I was joking xD.

I can't wait. I'm punching little kids & pregnant women at Gamestop if they're in my way of purchasing this game
Grab me a copy too, I can't afford it right now.
@JSwayze
Can I dress your local Gamestop employees in either small and tight clothes or as a pregnant woman so they can enjoy the fun as well?
@WorldEndsWithMe
-If I had the extra money bro
@Snorge
-Sure, but keep the pretty girls out of it lol
Beezledrop already bought me a game, that dude is a champ. PSXE is the best community of all time.
Hmm, I didn't know the community was strong like that. Makes me proud to be on here
I wish I could have went to the party. Oh well the party will be at my home March 15th.
How could you pass on this Ben? For shame.
Come on everyone, it's time to band together and help the Japanese culture and people. Even if it is only through the support offered by the worldwide enjoyment of Yakuza 4.
Peace.
Wait, wait, WTF!? I didn't know this was a ping pong game! I thought it was a Yakuza mafia type game! Hmmm, I may have to pick this up now! 🙂
Don't miss out on the Yakuza greatness
I was just kidding, this game looks very interesting. I will give it a shot.
was really looking forward to getting this.
shame they have to release it on the day one of the years biggest games come out!
sigh, sega you never learn do you?
So you're not getting it?
IGN gave this a really poor review too.
sad to see all the things i hated about yakuza 3 are still there!
this series feels so outdated!
for example, why are there text boxes in a 2011 game?
watching a 2 minute cutscene then spending 20 minutes reading dialogue via text boxes just gets REALLY annoying!
was going to get this once i got the time to play it, but thats just really put me off it!
plus the story is what is yakuza, without the story its nothing!
allot of places have said the storys pretty crap, splitting it into 4 different characters was a big mistake!
i wish for the next one, they took it out of the 90s and into the 20th century!
hello sega, its 2011 so can we have a 2011 game?
Me being an anime fan, reading text on the bottom of the screen isn't a problem for me at all
Don't take I'm seriously, he gonna get it, and complain in one of his infamous text wall rants.
@Oxvial
-Yeah lol, saying how it was a "disappointment"
