Red Dead Redemption Keeps Turning Big Profit For Take-Two

Grand Theft Auto is no longer the only gigantic bread-winner in the Take-Two family.

Red Dead Redemption launched way back in May of 2010 but the game continues to bring in profit for publisher Take-Two and developer Rockstar Games. According to Take-Two's latest quarterly results , they have shipped around 8 million units of their epic Western title. By comparison, that number isn't quite half of what they shipped of GTAIV in total but then again…GTA is GTA. And 8 million is pretty damn good. As for earnings, Take-Two raked in $334.3 million in net revenue, which is down 7% from the $360.4 million taken in during the third quarter of the previous year. Profits came in at $40.8 million, which is basically the same as the $39.4 million in the year-over-year comparison. So that's kind of boring, but overall, Take-Two is looking better and better.

For the nine months ending on December 31, the publisher's overall net revenue rose 80% to $954.5 million, and they turned a $98.4 million loss from the previous year into a $76.2 million profit. So yeah, say "thank you," Red Dead Redemption . For the current quarter, Take-Two plans to release MLB 2K11 and Top Spin 4 , and later, we can expect Duke Nukem Forever and L.A. Noire in May. The recently announced The Darkness II will arrive later in the year. But where the heck is Max Payne 3 …?

It wasn't on the release list for Take-Two and the only official statement now is- "There's no update on that title as of this time." That sounds a little discouraging, doesn't it? But we can't wait to see how L.A. Noire and Duke Nukem Forever turn out.

Hmmm, I might have to finish that game some time.

I'd like to know what happened to Max too, but aside from LA Noire I don't care if the rest of those take five more years as long as Bioshock Infinite turns out solid. I'd like to see how the Duke turns out, but I can't reason out the full $60 expenditure at the moment.

I have just started RDR just wondering does it take a bit to get into it for most people?

I suppose that kind of depends on "it," if you mean the overarching story then yes it takes a bit. But hopefully the game will grab you with some other aspect a bit earlier or you might not have a lot of fun with it.

if ur not just a shooting nut, the story should hopefully grab you pretty soon (stick with it. it has a very great ending) and all the side missions and challenges should provide excellent distractions extending your playthrough significantly. don't worry though, it has very frantic shootouts also. a lot of them.
oh, and don't forget undead nightmare released last october. its a completely separate single player campaign, but its different, somewhat amusing, and creepy.

Sorry for being unclear but yes I was talking about the overarching story. I have heard about undead nightmare and it looks interesting I might check it out after I finish RDR.

RDR was an awesome game, I still play it some times. It's in my top 5 for 2010 of games I've played, easy. The only game I'm really want from these guys other then L.A. Noire is the sequel too RDR, or another RD installment. I loved that game… I still love it.
I say GTA should step over a bit and give RD some room. R* owes this too RD. It will become a really good franchise. I just might pass up GTA some day…? So give it a chance R*!

never has been mafia was a classic!
really want to finish this but cant be stuffed playing through 10+ hours again just to get up to the last bit im at, almost finished this on my 360 then started playing BLUR and did not get a chance to go back.
the DLC was pretty crap though, theres way better zombie games out there like L4D, or cant believe im saying this but even dead rising 2 is better!

Good game, but would not buy a part 2. I downloaded the zombie pack and was not really in to it no more. I am done being a cowboy.

Red Dead is a classic, the MP is weak in my opinion or jsut isn't my cup of tea. This was definitely one of the best games released last year and this is a game that deserves these sales unlike *cough COD cough*.

RDR was extremely immersible for me. I had been waiting for another Red Dead installment for at least 5 or 6 years. Seeing what they took from Red Harlow's adventure and upgrading it for John Marston was good.

I wasn't really into the MP much except for the co-op. R* will give us another..those number can't be denied.

What I would like to know is where the heck is Agent? That game was announced all the way back in the summer of 2009 and to this day will still know almost nothing about it.

It just seems wrong to be mentioning RDR alongside Duke Nukem and The Darkness. 2K needs to thank its lucky stars that they have Rockstar.
