Red Faction Movie Details And Cast

We knew THQ had teamed up with the SyFy network to deliver a TV movie based on the Red Faction franchise, and we now have more details on the film.

Set to release in May, the movie known as "Red Faction: Origins" will accompany the release of the next game in the series, Red Faction: Armageddon . And as for the two-hour live-action film's cast: Robert Patrick ("Terminator 2," "Double Dragon") will be in the leading role as Alec Mason. It'll be interesting to see what has happened with Mason, as the movie takes place 25 years after the events in Guerrilla and 12 years after his enemies murdered his wife, Lyra (played by Tamzin Merchant; you may remember her from "The Tudors"). Alec's son, Jake, will be played by Brian J. Smith ("Stargate Universe") and as the story progresses, Jake learns that his sister, kidnapped when his mother was murdered, is alive and is a member of a "powerful invading force."

Other cast members include Kate Vernon ("Battlestar Galactica"), Danielle Nicolet ("The Starter Wife"), Gareth David-Lloyd ("Torchwood"), and Devon Graye ("Dexter"). Peabody winner Michael Nankin ("Caprica," "Battlestar Galactica") will handle directing duties for "Origins" and Andrew Kreisberg ("Warehouse 13") has written the script, while THQ director of fiction development Paul DeMeo ("The Rocketeer," "The Flash") thought up the story. We've typically enjoyed the Red Faction franchise and although this isn't a full-budget theatrical production, that might actually be a good thing.

I'm sorry, but Red Faction died to me the minute it went third-person. This sure-to-be-horrible SyFy movie doesn't do much for reviving my love for the franchise.

The story could lend itself to a very good film, but I am sure they will find a way to ruin it an have it go straight to DVD.

I won't watch it as long as BJS is in it, him and his family like to provoke anyone that doesn't consider him to be the best actor there is, his mother is also trying to get people to boycott syfy for cancelling sgpoo

You said Torchwood, I'm mildly interested. I think it's cool that this will release alongside the game rather than the other way around. Here's hoping both projects are worth taking a look at.
Peace.

it can be, there are alot of good syfy original movies. but there are far more terrible syfy original movies. But if you want a good example of what a good syfy original production can be look to battlestar galactica, if you want to know what their bad is look to mega shark vs crockasaurus

While Sy-Fy movies do stink those movies are usually made by other studios like the Asylum and other low budget companies.

Fun little snippet, I use to visit at this one studio that made a few SyFy movies. They primarily make special effects for the big name movies but one the side they make their own films. Their name is Precinct 13 and the guy who heads it is evidently a major guy in the FX world.

oh please Hollywood cant you leave our games alone!?
as if destroying your industry was not bad enough!
honestly, have not enjoyed a movie since the last LOTR came out!
inception being the exception though, obviously, that movie ROCKED!
but besides that, well, Hollywood SUCKS!
