So, are you a PlayStation Plus member yet? After being unveiled at E3, the service has provided fans with a way of nabbing more stuff for a lesser cost.
Some say the $50 price tag is too high but others argue that you'll get your money back in free and discounted merchandise within the first month. Besides, it's $50 for the annual subscription; it isn't a monthly. But how is it being received thus far? the[a]listdaily spoke to PSN senior director Susan Panico about it and Sony is clearly satisfied with the service's progress. Said Panico:
"…we haven't released figures yet, but in the most recent month, it's been very successful. We've listened to the feedback and have tried to offer the content that they want. We are running a business, so we had to look at a way to create reoccurring revenue, and we looked to see what would people be willing to pay for and PSN Plus was what we came up with, providing all a lot of great content, exclusive discounts and exclusive access to betas and it enhances the overall experience for fans, but it also has a chance to reach a whole new audience for people who want whole new content."
She went on to say that after 16 years of being with Sony, things have never been more exciting. The PlayStation brand has escalated into a full entertainment product and service; Panico calls the PS3 "entertainment flypaper." "There's so much entertainment stickiness on the horizon," she said. And with the PlayStation Rewards headed our way in April, that should act as the perfect complement to PlayStation Plus. You should probably hop aboard if you haven't already…
Indeed I have signed on as a Member, in most cases it is worth it but sooner or later Sony will need to start releasing worth-while PSOne games like Bushido Blade 1-2, Nightmare Creatures, Rival Schools, etc. In all I believe it is worth it, and I do enjoy discounts.
Plan on getting a Plus membership this week..Makes no sense to be in the Rewards beta and not have Plus. Was waiting for something specific but there's so much free stuff, why continue to wait?!
The PS Rewards has nothing to do with PS+. As a GAP member I was invited to the PSR Beta with no need to be a PS+ suscriber, and you do not receive more points for being PS+
Last week, being already Tier PRO in PSRewards, I signed to PS+ because today we'll be getting "Sacboy Prehistoric Moves", next week "Sam & Max: The Devilâs Playhouse"
I got Plus when it was released and have been pleased with the offerings the program offers.
I am close to signing up for this, and the one thing that push me into doing so is the fact that several folks on my PSN friends list have "Select" and "Pro" next to their names. I like the the idea of a reward system.
Why am I not hearing much about the LBP Move spin off? Its flying RIGHT under the radar!
Does anyone know how $much$ it is?
$5.99. i agree, i have brought this up in different posts and no one seems to notice or care. the demo is big news but this doesnt seem to be.
"the LBP Move spin off"
Is it out already? I want it.
About PS+. I only got the 3 months subscription to gain access to KZ3 beta. I just had to. Anyway, it has been more than worthy. KZ3 beta, AC2 beta, discounted games, free games for my PSP, dynamic themes, is a lot for less than 20 bucks.

it will be out in a few hours when they update the store. its in todays update
…or it's free if you wait for the LBP2 disc.
I just got it for free in my email. I'm not even signed up for Plus. http://imgur.com/rsVS8
i got psplus on july 4h. i have been happy with it so far and have not had one problem having spent the $50.
I don't need Plus but a lot of people on my list have it. BTW, what was in the firmware update today?
My question exactly.
" PS3 firmware 3.55 'adds a security patch'by Andrew Yoon on Dec 7th 2010 1:05AM84It doesn't appear Sony has much to say about PS3 firmware 3.55, available … well, now. Why? Because it seemingly only adds a security patch. We're certain that you will be much more vocal about the inconvenience of mandatory installs, the lack of certain oft-requested features, and the ongoing battle between Sony and hackers. "
These are not my words! but answer your question.

There was a hack recently that enabled downgrading your 3.5 firmware to a point where you could use that service key exploit found a while back. Sony was quick to respond with a patch to block this.
yep nothing but an anti-hack.
alright, thanks for doing my homework for me. Sometimes I don't have the time ya know.
you want the answers to tomorrows test also? 😉 lol
That would be appreciated 🙂
I got PS plus second day from when it came out. Everyone was telling me it was a waste and very negative stuff about it, but in the end I win. Im getting my money back in just a month, im getting free minis for my psp, im getting free Qore episodes witch I enjoy, im getting in selected betas, im getting early demos, free avatars, free themes, free ps one classics, free full 1hr game trials, and so much more. Yes, I consider all this stuff to be free because I got my money back in just a month after I bought PS plus. The great thing about it is… I still got a whole year of getting free stuff.

@pavlovic
I know PS Rewards and Plus have nothing to do with each other. I was simply saying that it makes sense to get Plus if you are in the Rewards..Why not get the use out of both at the same time. You buy items from the PS Store as PLus at a discounted rate and that also increases PS Rewards..
I'm not tempted yet, mostly it's just content from the PS store that I'm not really interested in. But I would really like to participate in betas for games like Resistance 3 and uncharted 3 ( when it's announced), so hopefully Sony will offer that next year.
I haven't seen anything yet that has made me feel I need to sign up for this..
Same here.
I don't think it's a bad deal at all, but I already own most everything I could have gotten for free so far.
I would not have made my $50 back yet unless you count items I wouldn't have otherwise gotten (like Sam & Max, Fieldrunners, or Shatter).
If they ever offer ~$25 worth of items I really want at one time, I'll probably get it and take the risk on the remaining $25.
p.s. Nearly half of my friends list now has Plus, so it must be doing pretty well.

Plus still isn't for me. I don't question it's value to those who can make use of it, but I just don't play enough these days to warrant it. I thank Sony for keeping the core PSN features free, because that's all I need.
I'm not interested in Plus, but I'd say about 1 in 5 on my friends list has it. I never see them playing any of the "free" games though.
"Entertainment flypaper" indeed. I spend a good amount of time stuck to my PS3.
I'd join if they added some features, I mean games are great and all but I cant keep spending money on purchase after purchase
PS1 classics don't interest me. Open Beta's don't interest me that much either. New avatars don't interest me. Mini's don't interest me. One hour game trials…not interested. Qore seems interesting though..as long as its different from PULSE. Overall, the money's no problem. I could sign up today however I just haven't seen anything from Plus that just jumps out at me. I go to Playstation Home, Play full games, and watch Netflix. What good will PSPlus do for me? Somebody tell me.
the LBP move game is free for plus members this week. or at least it is for us here in europe. I've been a plus member since day one here in england and quite frankly compared to the US version of Plus is a dreadful and downright insulting service. I highly doubt that i will be renewing especially after the reveal that PSN reward programme is going live in the US in April next year but as for us in Europe not even a batter of eyelid as to wether they will follow suit. I probably wont renew my subscription net year if SCEE attitude towards its fanbase and customer base including plus members gets better and improves.
I really like the perks of having a Plus membership. And I see it as a way of donating a bit to Sony so they can bring us even more great and innovative things in the future.
i got day 1 and i've enjoyed it so far… the incentive was that extra 3 months of service.
With Playstation Plus I look forward to every Playstation Store update on Tuesdays. Before I became a Playstation Plus member it was fun to see what the Playstation Store had to offer, for free, like demos. Now I jump on the Playstation Store and do more than just checkout the demos. I now have an incentive to purchase great discounted games, download featured games, themes, etc. It's a lot of fun.
I'm really looking forward to Playstation Rewards as well. I didn't make it into the beta, which I really wanted to try out. Now when it comes out in Spring I'll be sure to play and reply all my PS3 games to see how it affects my ranking. That should be a lot of fun to do.
I have it, I hope it ultimately proves value for money but as yet it has not offered much for me. Problem is I had already bought most of the free stuff they have given away and the other stuff is just filler.
PS+ gives different value of money for each person, it is good that it offers fantastic value for money to anybody new to the PS3 or console gaming but a great shame that it offers the worst value for money to those that are either loyal to Sony or buy items from the store on a somewhat regular basis.
Just to add, if Sony were to take away the core free services of the PSN, then I would not renew my PS+ sub and return back to being a PC gamer.
