Fate Of Two Worlds Decided On February 15

If you're a superhero fan and a fighting game enthusiast, there will be no better option in 2011.

According to Joystiq , the highly anticipated Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds will launch in North America on February 15, 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (it'll be available in Europe three days later). Unsurprisingly, fans will have the option of the Special Edition, which features a steelbook case, a prologue comic, a one-month subscription to Marvel's online comic service and a download voucher. The voucher will net you two new characters: Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath. If you pass on the special edition, you can still nab both characters, but you just have to wait four weeks. You can find the details on that Special Edition at Gamestop.com and we have to admit, $69.99 isn't a bad price for everything you receive. It's not terrible, especially with all these ridiculous $100+ packages on the market.  Those things are getting crazy.

If you've been waiting patiently to throw down with all the Marvel and Capcom legends once again, you now have a date, so circle it on the calendar.

That's really not a bad price at all. I'm looking forward to getting the game even though I suck at MvC 2.

Ha, from the headline I thought this was about Two Worlds 2.

Capcom's been on my $#!+list after RE5 and Dead Rising 2. The quality of DR2 was absolutely crap. RE5 vs RE5:Gold. Had I waited for the Gold edition, I wouldn't have had to dish out all that extra cash for the DLC – which should have been included in the game. Hear me out on this one:

They offered DLC for multiplayer mode. I stupidly paid the $5.00 for the new mode. The file size? 380Kb. What this leads me to believe is the game came packaged with the multiplayer mode and the DLC simply enabled it.

Capcom DLC is all crap. Costumes for $2-3? Milking the customer… well not this one anymore.

Any DLC you buy from Capcom is already on the disc with the exception of the RE5 Gold Edition content they sell on PSN for the people who bought to regular edition. Basically what were paying for is a key to unlock it.

Capcom, screwing their fanbse with MS's help since 2005.

Which just irritates the hell out of me. I wouldn't be surprised if what can't fit on the 360's DVD, we pay for as DLC which comes packaged with our discs.

How else could they release an online mode by release day at 300Kb?

Shady business for sure.

Oh man, from the title I thought we'd get news on Two Worlds II for PS3 but that picture didn't quite fit.

Its garbage that this game is coming with less characters than Marvel vs Capcom 2. They will sell you the characters you should have got to begin with. Pathetic. So sick of Capcom and their milking of their fanbase.

I have to agree with you on that. Considering the roster for this game isn't as big as MVC2, they're basically gonna do this game the same way they did Street fighter 4 & Super Street Fighter 4.

No, it isn't garbage. MVC2 had too many characters as it was, as far as I know, intended to be the last hurrah for that series, and they just threw everyone from X-Men vs. Street Fighter on up into the game. It was filled with unnecessary characters (War Machine and Iron Man; two variations of Wolverine, etc.) and there wasn't a whole lot of difference in gameplay between any of them. 52 characters is a LOT, and considering all they did was use the same sprites they have for decades on a lot of those characters, it was a cut and paste hack-job despite the game's excellence.

This is from the ground up rebuilding of the franchise using an engine that only two characters in the game have been rendered on before (Chris and Wesker; and now Jill, I suppose, so three). The game was announced earlier this year with an intended release date of Spring, next year. A year — or a little less — is not that long of time to build a fighting game with 52 plus characters from scratch.

As for the DLC, as far as I can tell from following the development of the title since the announcement, Jill and Shuma weren't intended to be in the game at all. The announcement of them being DLC could simply mean that the devteam doesn't have the time to finish them before the disc goes gold. It could mean a lot of things. Why does everyone instantly jump at the "OMG CAPCOM IS RIPPING US OFF!" conclusion from the beginning?

Mad, Capcom is and does rip us off on a regular basis. It's undeniable.

MadPowerBomber, MvsC2, while it recycled a lot, was a pretty big change from the prior vs. games.

More-so than any of it's predecessors.
It brought on full 3 vs 3 play, a simplified 4-button attack system, and even more insanely crazy full life bar combos. And with it, insane balancing issues that staved off certain fighting gamer types–myself included.
I liked XvsSF when it first hit the arcades, it was interesting and different. But after the two consecutive follow-ups, MvsSF and MvsC, and the whole genre push towards tag team play–Tekken, DOA–I grew concerned that too much of the genre was leaning towards the button sequence tapping combos as a measure of one's skill.

I don't mind some good juggles etc, but the emphasis was just so heavy. I think Tekken 6 goes a little too nuts with this as well.. and TTT2 was exactly news I was really excited to read.

I'm thinking this new MvsC is more of a reboot than a direct sequel. Gone is the CPS-2/Naomi chipset and now something totally new. New animations, new everything.

Though, I'm not too eager about this one as I'd prefer to see something like the most recent arcade iteration of VF5 come PS3-side complete with online play. Or even a new DOA.

It has barely any X-Men and/or SF character characters, won't buy.

If I wanted Super Smash Bros Brawl I would buy that instead.

MVC was never supposed to be a party game like SSBB turns out to be, essentially. Unless you play 1on1

soooooooo cant wait till this comes out!
just one question.
WTF is dante doing here?

johnld
johnld

umm… dante is a capcom character so its really no surprise he's there. the upsetting surprise is that the people who you would expect to be no brainers when it comes to the rosters arent there. megaman was in mvc 1 and 2 but nowhere to be found in 3. they even took a while to bring in spiderman. no cyclops, the leader of the x men. who are we going to get next professor x?

___________
___________

ahhh, that was kinda my point.
dante should not be in this, hes not a fighter.
he settles his battles with his gun or sword, not with a fist to the face.
personally i prefer MVC2s characters, but eh, its nice to see a new version of everyones favorite fighting game.

i'm not really excited or going to rush out to buy this one. i may have outgrew racing and fighting games since thats basically all i played in the ps2 days. i will be getting it but a lot later on. i have the feeling my marvel vs capcom 2 and probably my marvel vs capcom 1 game will be enough to steer me away from this title for a long time. add that to the fact that fighting games already lost its appeal to me this generation. i prefer my fighting games local instead of online. i was even getting pissed off trying to get platinum on naruto uns2 because all i got was lag, cheating, and spamming. at least playing locally is really fun.

i used to bring my ps2 in high school amd we'll have a group of people playing. all we needed was mvc 1 and 2, dragonball gt final bout, and dragonball ultimate battle 22. thats how fighting games should be played. at least thats my opinion most likely because i was so jaded with soul calibur 4. i mean if you're releasing a reflex dependent game, there shouldnt be any lag at all.

Guyver he was replying to a Spammer. Now that the spam is deleted, his comment doesn't make much sense to those who didn't see the spam before it was deleted. You have seen the spam before, I am sure.

Nynja, Ben has asked us repeatedly to not reply to the spam. They're bots. Not people. When you reply, no one reads it and it only creates confusion and more work for Ben. So just ignore them in the future or report them with the yellow /! spam alert button.

but seriously capcom where the hell is Hayato, Strider, Jin, Captain Commando, Akuma. Why aren't the super cool characters in the game. Some of these characters deserve actual reboots of their own games.
