Two things to remember: 1. the original Parasite Eve was more of an action/RPG than the sequel, as the first title boasted a quasi-turn-based mechanic. 2. Aya Brea is adorable.
Possibly in preparation for the long-awaited third installment, The 3rd Birthday , Square-Enix has confirmed that both Parasite Eve and Parasite Eve II will hit the PlayStation Network on November 18 in Japan. For the record, The 3rd Birthday will launch four days later. For those of you looking for a Resident Evil -type experience, you'll want to check out the sequel, which sacrificed the action/RPG feel of the original for a real-time third-person-shooter system. Both boast solid stories and great characters, though, and if you forget, they were quite popular in their day. The two combined to sell 3 million copies on the PlayStation and bear in mind that 12 years ago, the industry wasn't anywhere near as big as it is now. 3 million for two titles in a series was pretty damn good. Personally, PE remains one of my favorite games of all time, if only because of its unique gameplay.
Unfortunately, we're not sure when either PE will hit the North American PSN, nor are we sure when The 3rd Birthday will show up on US shores. Hopefully, it won't be too long of a wait.
Related Game(s): Parasite Eve
That's fine and all, but I sure would like to see a PS3 version. It's time.
I'd actually rather them keep it on PSP. Going to PS3 would most certainly mean the game goes multiplat and we know how Square handles multiplat releases. At least with it being a PSP exclusive they can focus on one piece of hardware with out the distraction of making it work on all consoles.
Agree Max
The 3rd birthday should be on the PS3… I'm sure all PE fans agree that we've waited long enough for another PE title for Square-Enix to just release it on the PSP
I don't agree. See my reply to Max.
I'll get both of the PS1 games when they arrive on the PSN. As for 3rd Birthday, I've heard nothing but bad things about the gameplay. Looks like SE is releasing another game with amazing production values but mediocre gameplay.

I just hope they don't screw up Deus Ex, but at this point I am fearing the worst.
I'm not worried about the quality of Deus Ex. Eidos made the first two and they are making the new one as well. S-E is just doing the cutscenes and publishing the game from everything I've read so far.
The gameplay of the originals + the high quality S-E cinemas = winner in all aspects in my book.
And I think there will be a really huge backlash if this one fails. There are a whole lot of Deus Ex fans that expect nothing but the best for that franchise. Me being one of them as the original game is one of my all time favorite games ever released.
What are you hearing about the gameplay LV?
Well Joystiq said the gameplay is boring and far too easy. Just walking around mashing the shoot button at various things that approach you. Not much depth or strategy involved. Gamespot had similar things to say about the game. They both said the CGI and production values were both AAA.
Sounds familiar, lol.
@ Geo
The is no more Eidos, it's SE now.
@main_event05
I know but the Eidos division of S-E is making it. Not S-E themselves. If you get what I'm saying lol.
I'm sure this game will hit the US store, it IS a Square Enix game.
I'm not convinced. Just because it's a SE game, does not mean it'll hit PSN in NA or EU.
Xenogears hit Japan, but not here. I wouldn't hold my breath.
I've been waiting on Xenogears also. Still have the 1st Parasite eve disc but would get both off PSN. Seems SE can't do ne thing but make pretty CG now a days. Still hoping Versus XIII comes out good. Still haven't even picked up XIII.
You can get XIII for about 15 bucks, its definitely worth that.
I've got part 1 in case I wanna remote play it (cuz wow do those graphics look horrible on an HD TV) but I never played part 2.
I was under the impression that 3rd Birthday was on track for the US, hopefully it won't take too long to localize.
It looks like alot of us really liked the first PE and then passed on the 2nd one….I don't really even know why I didn't get it.
I remember this game, because it came out when I was in HS biology and we were talking about mitochondria in class and I kept thinking about the game and all it's maternal mitochondria jargon…..Good times!
Still have PE sitting in the closet so I don't think I really need to pick it up on the PSN even if it comes to North America.
Are you now able to create mutants Dr. Sven?
To answer your questions – YES!
But the redtape behind the Mutant Registration Act just made the whole ordeal not worthwhile…
I played a bit of the first game way back in the day. I sort of liked it. But back then I liked survival/horror. But I don't today. Anyway, maybe I may give this one a go once again. It had a sleekness that I liked.
PE wasn't survival/horror. The second one was but the first most definitely played like an action/RPG.
Cool, I may give the first one a download some day. I only loosely remember it's play. I just remember some chick walking around in a business building encountering monsters. I like games that are more empowering rather than survival oriented.
I also wonder if Einhander is far behind.
I'll pick these up as soon as their out. I loved the first game. I was kind of disappointed with the second game because i was already getting my Resident Evil fix with…well….Resident Evil. Now that Resident Evil is pretty much dead, i can now give Parasite Evil 2 another chance so i can get my Resident Evil fix. 🙂
Poor ResiEvil. R.I.P.
For now World. I hear RE 6 is going back to the RE roots. It'll be real survival horror. I also hear that it'll be a series reboot, that's the only part that scares me.
You got it wrong Ben. Aya is hot then and now.
:@
why does Japan always get the cool stuff?
you know sony, there are ps3s sold outside Japan and the US………………
