Up until a few days ago, the upcoming NBA Jam for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 was a downloadable game.
But things have changed. And as the game's creative director Trey Smith told Toronto sports radio show Got Game , this really came out of the blue. Now, it's a full retail product. "We got this bomb dropped on us just a couple days ago," said Smith. "So we're shuffling to get everything together, but we got a great team; we got a lot of stuff up and working…we're gonna get it out there before the holidays." EA Canada has already finished the Wii version, which will be in stores nationwide later today, and they already had online implements planned for the digital version. It was even going to be included with new copies of NBA Elite 11 but now that the latter has been delayed until next year, it seems EA wants NBA Jam to pick up some of the slack on store shelves. By the way, that very cool Remix Tour will be featured in all versions of the game, but it'll be a race to the finish line to get it all done. "We're trying to throw it all in there," Smith finished.
Yeah, well, we really miss NBA Jam , and we can't be happier that it's going to multiple platforms, including the PS3. Who remembers the awesomeness that was the Tournament Edition on the SNES?

Is NBA Jam a full NBA game?
As I recall it should have all the teams and players. Since it is a goofy crazy fun game it doesn't compete with officialness.
Oh man, this is awesome! I loved the original and I thought this was only going to Wii. I can't wait until it comes out!
I had so much fun with Jam back in the day, all the crazy codes were a blast. And the commentary kept the special moves fun "Heeeee's on fire!" But sadly, I think I've moved on. Jam will go down in history along with Tecmo Superbowl as one of the VERY few sports games to win me over.
Well thank goodness. Retail is where it's at when it comes to holiday shoppers.
Sounds to me like they're gonna rush it for holiday sales, and that usually means the quality will suffer. Hopefully EA can pull this off.
They'll re-release it in 6 months as a "Tournament Edition" Like Capcom did with Street Fighter
NBA Jam on the SNES and Genesis were never really the best versionS of the game compared to the arcades version which ran on better hardware.
As for this NBA Jam, just looking at the game it doesn't seem to me like the arcades versions. Its almost like Mark Turmell took the NBA Street games, did a total conversion by changing the player models and putting the NBA Jam label onto it.
In the end though when it come to the NBA and video games then Amusement Vision's NAOMI game Virtua NBA filled the void along with its sister arcade sports games e.g. NASCAR Arcade, BeachSpikers, Virtua Striker and Powersmash.

Sure it wasn't NBA Jam, but I love the fact Virtua NBA carried the DNA of NBA Jam. If anything it could be said that the game was an NBA Jam reincarnated.
Hey. The sun is hot.
…quick, be arbitrary and refute it.
NBA Elite 11s been delayed?
saw it today at EB when i picked up my copy of enslaved.
wow, thats the first time ive seen a delayed game actually released in stores.
dam, which they would of made that mistake with castylvania.
lol, remember when Bill and Hillary Clinton were unlockable? Word has it Obama and Palin will be in this one.
I can't tell if you're serious or not.
