Retail evidence already told us about a few of these, but it's nice to have the full update list from Sony.
Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced 7 new titles for their ever-expanding Greatest Hits lineup. To qualify as a Greatest Hit, the game must hit a certain sales plateau that few titles hit, and because gamers continue to reward quality in this industry…well, Greatest Hits experiences are some of the best. Here are the new additions to the PS3's exalted library; you can nab any of them for $29.99:
There are now over 40 titles in the Greatest Hits PS3 library and as the press release states, that library features "a broad range of genres, including first-person shooter, platformer, fighting, and action/adventure." And of course, when games do well, you can almost always anticipate another installment in the series: going by the above additions, Insomniac is working on Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One , MotorStorm: Apocalypse is on its way, Call of Duty: Black Ops drops in November, and if they don't do another Tekken , we'll be awfully surprised.
Only Demon's Souls seems to be left out in the cold, as Atlus isn't working on a sequel, but another all-new IP called Catherine .
That's right, two CoD titles for one release of Greatest Hits titles.
I'd like to get Pacific Rift again. Demon's Souls is still calling out to me.
I thought From Software was doing a Demon's Souls spiritual successor, Project Dark.
Yep, pretty excited about the prospects of a Demon's Souls successor. Keeping a close eye on From Softwares Project Dark.
Also looking forward to more info on Atlus's Catherine.

"Successor" is code for new IP. 😉
Ooh, I'll be picking up Tekken 6 now…
What are your feelings on the upcoming StreetFighter X Tekken game?
I'll probably give the Street Fighter one a try as I have always liked Street Fighter more than Tekken. Plus I really like what Capcom had done with Street Fighter this gen. Especially the art style. The one thing Capcom has done well this gen.

Regarding that upcoming cross over fighting game….I wish that they'd spent the time and resource on Soul Calibur 5, instead of a retread/blend of two existing games.
Tekken 6 has been 15-20 bucks in amazon for a while. 30 isnt such a great deal compared with that.
I want the DOA though 🙁
i'm passing on fighting games for now. i dont see as much value for them since back in the ps2/ps1 days. fighting games are meant to be played in the same room with friends and not online where the slightest bit of lag ruins the game. and since i dont like playing fighting games online because of that so i can wait till its bargain bin price.
I look forward to the crossover games myself. It would seem incredibly difficult for the Tekken team to re-create SF characters for Tekken's combat style.
Tekken characters boast a massive set of moves… It's one thing to compress many moves down into a smaller set(SFvsT), but another to have to create a wealth of moves for characters that have never had so many moves to begin with.
Honestly, I won't be surprised if the Tekken version gets cancelled =It just seems impossible to me.
I still need to get A Crack in Time. Glad I waited a little longer than expected for the price cut.
A Crack in Time is freaking fantastic. I didn't like Tools of Destruction much and it kind of put me off of the R&C series but decided to get ACIT. Loved it. Couldn't put it down. Platinumed it within a few weeks.

My blaster does not yet run hot enough, and the final paradox challenges for Clank are a PITA. Other than that, great game.
I ordered R&CF:ACiT from GameFly for $21. They have it on sale, again, right now.
Nice fluffer. I got GOW3 from Gamefly for $19 a few weeks ago.
Eeek, I want to get MAG but I also want Atelier Rorona. Can only get one this month.
Hmmm, JRPG or another shooter…decisions.
JRPG – it's supposed to be turn based. How many good JRPGs have there been compared to how many shooters are around? Go with the JRPG, you know it makes sense…
It is turn-based, by the way.
Atelier Rorona it is then.
Sorry Frylock and JohnLD. Need my PS3 JRPG fix. I'll get MAG soon after. 🙂
Was that a smile I thought I felt coming from Ben's remark about the game being turn based?
Not really a classic rpg though that Atelier Rorona. It looks to be mostly a collecting and potion making game. I've read the story is quite weak.
My vote is you get MAG. Hell, you might even see me on there. You know how many n00bz show up in the game when the price drops? Good times.
The Japanese loved it. It was more well received over there than FFXIII. also just a quick look over some of the early reviews gives me a good feeling about the game. Gametrailers gave it a 9.1.
Yeah, it got 8/7/8/7 from Famitsu. It looks like an interesting game with several cool styles of gameplay. Comes out today! 🙂
Yea i was going to pick it up today when i was at Walmart but most retail stores seem to get the games a day after release dates. Every time i try to pick up a game the day its supposed to release no one has it but Gamestop. Stopped going to Gamestop some time ago so i guess ill have to wait till tomorrow.
Gonna pick it up at Amazon…
All great games, and will hopefully pick up tekken, haven't been able to play this iteration, But have always been a fan.
I also enjoyed the MAG Beta, but does anyone know if its still populated well, i mean, you dont want a empty 256 player map, and is why i still havn't bought the game.
You can still find a game in MAG. Sure, the larger ones might take a few minutes, but I wouldn't let that stand in your way.
Ok thanks for that, a few miniutes wait for a game is no problem.
Sony also announced the Uncharted 2 game of the year edition for 49.99
I don't care what anybody says, I'm buying it……. again.
If I hadn't already bought all the DLC there is I would buy it again too.
but it comes with Uncharted pinball for the PSP.
OOOOH! it also comes with Golden Guns and all the avatar packs.
Must…resist…urge..to..buy!
Well at least From Software is teaming up with Namco-Bandai to create a "spiritual sequel" to Demon's Souls.
It's called "Project Dark." They say it's for those who loved Demon's Souls.
Sadly it'll be multiplat. But the lead console is the ps3 so it should be the definitive version.
PS3 is not the lead console. It is not being developed as a multiplat. From Software are working JUST on PS3 (being the only console), and it'll be exclusive in Japan. The Xbox version will be ported by namco bandai, which by the way I really hate because they don't want to give us PS3 owners our Tales of Vesperia/Graces F.
Nice to see the added attention these games are getting but thrifty shopping would have gotten you any of them for less than 30 in the past little while.
And hey, would you look at that? Three FPS as PS3 greatest hits. Looks like we like shooters after all.
From Software did Demon's Souls, Atlust just published. 🙂
tempted by mag and tekken but im just too busy to get the titles that havent even come out yet let alone catching up with the past ones
I might have bought COD4 if Activision made it a GH back when they should have (2 years ago). Now, I have no interest, which saves me money. Thanks for being greedy, Bobby!
I will be getting at least two of these, though.
Activision can't make any games into greatest hits. Sony decides what becomes a greatest hit.
its not a greatest hits game but modnation racers got a price drop to 39.99 too.
R&Cs a steal at that price!
spent over 100 hours in that game and i still have not come close to finishing it!
Might give mag a try.
