Looking forward to seeing how the Capcom camp stacks up against the Marvel mob? Well, the first quarter of 2011 isn't too far away.
Originally planned for a "spring 2011" release, Capcom just put Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds on their schedule for the fourth quarter of their fiscal year, which runs between January 1 and March 31. This according to the publisher's annual report to investors , and it fits right in line with the publisher's recent release behavior. They're really into avoiding the holiday rush and dropping their biggest titles in the first quarter of a new year; the last two Resident Evil titles, Street Fighter IV and Devil May Cry 4 all launched within that Jan-Mar time frame. Said Capcom in the report:
"Traditionally, the demand for other companies' major software peaked during the Christmas season, which corresponds to the third quarter of the Japanese fiscal year. For this reason, Capcom followed a strategy whereby we launched multiple major titles in the comparatively slow fourth [fiscal year] quarter. However, in recent years, other companies began following the same strategy, making the release of multiple titles in the fourth quarter a risky proposition."
There are plenty of big-name games set to launch in the first quarter of 2011, including Killzone 3 and Dead Space 2 . So how do you think MvC3 will fare? Will you be in line to pick it up? Fighting fans have enjoyed plenty of great titles already this generation, including the aforementioned SFIV; that genre has seen quite the resurgence, huh?
ugh.. time to go off topic again.
I think the game will do just fine in sales because Dead Space and Killzone are distinctly different in design. Though, I will say the artistic presentation of this game doesn't do it for me.
It don't matter to me though, I'm basically committed to just Tekken and DOA. I'd give VF more time if I didn't think the series was going down the tubes.
I've learned over time that it's better to restrict myself to a select few fighters rather than getting diluted in the plethora of so many different fighters. My timing gets all messed up when I switch between too many.
Though SF is ready to take DOA's slot if Team Ninja doesn't do something with the series on the consoles.
Me too man, you can only have a few solid fighters. I'm much looking forward to the Mortal Kombat reboot and I want a new DOA, but SF vs Tekken and Tekken vs SF is kind of overkill.
It has no X-Men characters (except Wolverine). I don't consider Deadpool a X-Men.
Where's Gambit, Cyclops, Rogue?
Not getting it.
Killzone 3 will be a better buy
i agree with you
Give 'em time. They haven't revealed the entire roster yet, and just barely announced Spider-Man, who has been a mainstay of the Versus series since Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter.
I don't think they'll add any more X-Men. Wolverine isn't enough for me.
How can they ignore the X-Men fans like that? It's probably the most liked series from Marvel after Spider-Man.
don't be surprised if Micky mouse is the best character
Another one? Who is buying this stuff?
Me, and a lot of others like me.
Hmmmm, they even have "Okami" making an appearance as one of the new fighter in this game.

Amaterasu is her name =P haha, I loved Okami, I wish Crapcom would stop the DS/Wii games and make a ps3 version of Okami, especially now that it has move, since their whole reasoning of making them on those platforms if because of the motion. UGH, I'd rather it be without the move though and like the ps2 version, just HD haha
There are also a ton of new characters that have been announced: Tron Bonne, Dormmamu, Viewtiful Joe, X-23, Spider-Man and Albert Wesker.
Plus, you know, it has the original Dante in it.
Hehhhh.
When was spider-man and wesker announced? I haven't seen any gameplay with them in it.
not buying this one, capcom = rip.
keiji inafume is destroying the company, get him out ASAP.
don't blame you if you don't play fighter game, but this is gonna be the biggest thing since a long time ago.
this is MvC, not x-men nobody cares about cyclops or any other playboys
marvel is involved w/ the production so it's already looking beautiful, and you can tell from all the SF games that capcom can well handle the technical stuff. i'm for one stoked
Apparently, you're wrong. Someone does care about the other x-men, read the earlier comments.
I'm probably going to pick this up, but this is just a pick up and play game for me. Not something I'm going to dedicate time to play, like Killzone 3.
The weakest character roster ever for some type of cross-over, seriously, how can they go from something like MvC2's roster to this, ugh!
