No, it doesn't have anything to do with the 1981 sci-fi cult classic featuring Sean Connery. …at least, we think it doesn't.
Ubisoft has announced another downloadable game intended for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade – they already revealed Bloody Good Time this week – and this one is in development at Housemarque, the team responsible for Super Stardust HD . It's called Outland , a platformer "inspired by epic adventures such as the Prince of Persia series." Slated to drop early next year, this intriguing concept places players in the midst of a "world of balance and chaos where their efforts allow them to bridge the ancient divide, or doom the world to destruction." You will move through both light and darkness and this will require adaptation; the light vs. dark core gameplay is apparently reminiscent of Ikaruga . You'll run, jump, climb, dodge, and essentially survive in a world about to collapse. Boasting high-definition graphics and a great soundtrack by Ari Pulkkinen (he worked on Trine ), Outland is on display at the PAX event.
We love to see so many downloadable games taking the next step in this generation; remember, it all started with much simpler stuff, like Flow . Really, the digital realm has come a long way in only a few years.

Pricetag? I dunno, it's gonna take a lot to get me into downloadable games. Go ahead and wow me with some gameplay Ubi.
Sit Ubu, sit. Good dog.
I lol'd World… sit ubu sit…
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
Isn't PAX happening like… today, tomorrow? Well, whatever, enough with the downloadable games Ubisoft… Give me another new IP that is as good as Assassin's Creed 2 and isn't downloadble and I'll be your friend for life, sound good?
Peace.
We'll see
Great to see more platformers though. Though it'd be better if it was a full-fledged game.
sounds interesting, shame its download only.
another one to add to the want but will never buy list 🙁
when will developers learn by releasing games download only there only cutting there sales in half?
they are not cutting their sales in half…u seriously are thinking small….they are only adding to the stuff they sale already…and @scarecrow just because its download only doesn't mean it can never be a "full fledge game" we have infamous & red faction plus more that is downloadable. u know better then that….
KNG201: I think scarecrow means in regards to length, it's not really a full-fledged game. And those games you mentioned already were released on discs.
that made no sense what so ever!
anyway, of course there cutting there sales in half, not everyone has unlimited bandwidth you know?
so a full fledge game is rounded by length? really u know ever since this next gen thing started no full fledge game really delivered length just depth…& just cause they where on disc dont mean nothing…if these games are full fledge & downloadable then i know a dev can make a full fledge download only from scratch. & when I type @so&so dont mean u speak for them address me with your own thoughts please.
Mate, it's called a reply button. As far as I am concerned, yes a full-fledged game is determined by the length of the single player campaign. That's mostly the reason that I hardly consider MW2 as a real game. 😛
Also, did you consider that mayhap Scarecrow doesn't see fit to reply to your comment, or perhaps he is unable to at the current point in time. As a result, BloodVoidKaka chose to address you in his stead. It is still his thoughts, just representing that of another person.
Peace.
Well, it's nice to see some downloadable games that don't look like revamped versions of Robotron or Breakout.
I want Far Cry 3! And no insane trophies this time!
Alienange,
What you said, Ditto!
Freebie for Plus members?! 🙂 It sounds like a cool idea. I'm a huge fan of the 2D PoP (I like newer games, but it's a different sense of gaming) and have owned Stardust HD for a while, I loved both of them.
I just joined PS+ and must say, $50 for 15 month membership is pretty sweet! In all honesty, though, the + content is still lacking. I was hoping PS would've prepared more availability for launch date. Oh well, over one year of benefits left! 😀
i'm into any games… wether it's on disc or just a DL in the PSN… Been playing shank lately and scott pilgrim vs the world in the psn and tryna beat Yakuza 3 and littlebigplanet too… I'm everywhere
