John-ShepardFar Cry 2 was a great game, although some fans of the original didn't like the new focus on open-ended exploration. We have no idea how developers will approach the third, but perhaps we'll learn more about it soon.
Although there has been no official announcement, most gamers have simply assumed that Far Cry 3 would eventually become a reality, and rumors of its existence were around not long after the sequel arrived on store shelves. Now, a new rumor from PC Gamer – evidently found in their Spy section – says the third installment is currently "in full swing" at Ubisoft Montreal. The only other detail it provides is that Josh Mosqueira is lead developer for the project; he worked with Relic Entertainment as a lead designer for Company of Heroes . As for anything else, we'll just have to wait. Will they stick with the African sandbox theme? Or will it be something entirely new? The FPS category just gets more and more competitive with every passing year so by the time Far Cry 3 is here, it will likely be compared against Killzone 3 and Duke Nukem Forever . …okay, we're trying to be a little funny. But we'll have to eat our words when DNF blows everyone away after it releases in 2011! Um…no, 2047. Whatever.
We'll let you know when they decide to lift the veil on this project. If they do, we'll definitely want some early media.

I had so many good memories with DN3D. How they just screwed after that is really beyond me, what a shame…

Far Cry 2 was probably the best game ever to play if you needed to get some sleep, it sucked ass and thats not in my opinion, its fact. But seriously, the game was a snore fest
I liked the game except for how long it took to get around and i didn't like how it didn't autosave.
I for one loved FC3(although trying to figure a way to get to a few of those diamonds were a real biatch)!!!
So bring it on!!!
I still like the original Farcry and its original quasi-spin-off (Fc: Instincts) the best.
I liked FarCry 2 but it did get very repetitive after awhile and as Kevinator mentioned, there was no autosave feature which meant that when you complete a mission, you'd often have to drive two miles through the jungle just to save, and if you run into some baddies on the way and get shot up, have fun starting over. So hopefully they fix that, but regardless they're gonna have some real competition.

far cry 2 was not a truly fantastic game, but like uncharted, the devs need 2 use they last one as the foundation 4 the next one. i personally liked far cry 2, but it was just too tedious at times.

I was planning on getting far cry 2 when I could pick it up for about $15. Now I've seen it that cheap but I'm backlogged so it'll have to keep waiting.

I hope they keep the open world, i really enjoyed playing the last game and even completed it twice.
Wont pay full price tho, especially if its around the same time as the new resistence and killzone.
i hate far cry 2, i tried ever so hard to get into it but because of the scope of it i just found myself getting lost in the middle of no where and not really caring. the choice system kinda killed it. heres hoping the next one has more focus on being story driven.
I didn't hate it because of it's open ended design. I hated it because it sucked! Can someone please tell me how this game is Far Cry? Needless to say, I don't think I'll buy Far Cry 3 unless it's developed by Crytek. Or unless it's actually a vast improvement on FC2.
IMO, Fallout 3 was far superior to FC2. Maybe Bethesda should have a crack at it 😛
i didnt like far cry that much it was ok…hated the ending i wish the sequel would go back to the original far cry
