Neil Patrick Harris Is Spider-Man Again

These days, you just gotta have top-notch voiceover talent for video games. If not, your product simply won't stack up.

So hey, how's about making a Spider-Man game that features a bunch of actors who have all voiced the web-slinging hero in one form or another? The new iteration, Shattered Dimensions , was a prominent fixture at the San Diego Comic-Con event and Activision has revealed that Neil Patrick Harris will reprise his starring role in the game. Although he's done plenty since the '90s, most everyone will always equate Harris with "Doogie Howser, MD." In addition, we'll get the voice talents of Christopher Daniel Barnes, Dan Gilvezan and Josh Keaton, all of whom have helped bring Spider-Man to life in a bunch of animated TV shows. In Shattered Dimensions , players will travel through four distinct worlds – Ultimate, Noir, Amazing, and 2099 – and it's already shaping up to be a great title for 2010. It's set to launch on September 7 and it'll be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC, so all you Spidey fans should probably pre-order and insure you get a copy on launch day. Yeah, we know you superhero buffs.

We've had quite a few decent Spider-Man games in the past but we're expecting "the next level" from the new effort.

This game certainly looks interesting but i can't help the feeling it will end up being another generic game from Craptivision.

I wanted to like the previous Spiderman installments since he is my favorite Marvel hero, but they have all been crap.

Last good Spiderman game was Maximum Carnage…IMHO anyway.

Was that the one on SNES with the red cartridge? If that's the one your talking about, i agree 100%.

Was that the one with the Lizard Guy? I remember a Spiderman from when I was 4 or 5 either on Snes or on Sega.

The Ultimate Spiderman game for PS2(2005) was pretty badass. It was written by Brian Michael Bendis and and featured the art work of Mark Bagley. It was another one that let you play as both Spidey and Venom, just like Maximum Carnage did.

That is the one Jawknee. It was the red cart for either Genesis or SNES and it was the jam.

Ah yes Coverton That was the one where Venom and Spiderman had to team up against Carnage. That game is a gem and i saddened it ever ended up on the Wii Virtual Console.

I sold it years ago and regretted it ever since.

Ha… I have this pre-ordered at both Gamestop AND Amazon right now (you get the Captain Universe costumes from Gamestop, and the Iron Spider costume and an artbook from Amazon). I've always been a big Spidey fan, and I haven't been this excited for a game of his since Spider-Man 2. To me, this looks like Spider-Man's equivalent to Batman: Arkham Asylum (and I feel that even more-so now after reading about the voice talent from the all the animated shows joining). Hopefully it can live up to those expectations.

I was going to ask if the mechanic and game world would be similar to Arkham… If it is of similar quality then that is quite an achievement for another super hero game…

Maybe craptavision out does itself this time…

Q!

Ahh spiderman… I remember playing the PS2 games having fun just swinging around jumping off of buildings and shiz. Neil Patrick Harris was funny as hell in the harold and kumar movies, and how I met your mother… doogie howser was before my time though.

I thought it was Spider Man 2099? Hm..

It's hard to tell for me if I'm interested in not, prob my fav looking is the Noir Spiderman, he just looks epic and the environment he's in looks really neat. But I just haven't had much of a reason to buy any spiderman games as of late.

Noir, ultimate, 2099, and amazing. Some awesome spider-man stories could be done with this, but I'm tired of activision screwing me over. I'm waiting for reviews.

Most likely with all the pre-orders going on, I'll just wait for the goty version which will probably come out later with everything already on it.

This game seems like its going to be very short. Watch the IGN E3 interview and you'll see what i mean.

I think they said there will only be 3 missions per Spiderman.

that's one thing I've been worried about, because I've never known activision to make a long game and secondly with 4 worlds, this is going to be a short story with a capital short.

Noir looks badass, this is an activision game I will probably get (after being very careful to make sure they don't get any of my money)

I wish I could do the same but at least I will be using $30 of game credit on Amazon.

IDK it looks pretty cool. The spanning of the Spidey Universe is a neat idea. I Just hope it dosent become a incomprehensible wreck.

I've played every Spider-Man game since the first game hit the PSone back in the day, the only Spider-Man game I could really complained about was the Spider-Man 3 movie game. Quick time, the people looked weird, it took forever to get the black suit and the Venom boss battle was harder than it should be.

I'm glad they got Neil Harris to do The Amazing Spider-Man voice hopefully they get him when it's a non-Spider-Man movie game.. As for the fourth Spider-Man I was hoping for movie universe Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire voicing him for the last time or Zombie Spider-Man, but you can't go wrong with ultimate.
