Ben-DutkaWhenever games are initially announced for Japan and everyone wonders if and when we'll see it in the US, Atlus typically springs into action.
They did it with Demon's Souls and they're helping us out again with 3D Dot Game Heroes . The game that puts an over-exaggerated and hilarious spin on the days when circles simply didn't exist in the industry will be distributed in North America by Atlus. It's now scheduled to arrive exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on May 11, 2010, so we'll all be able to take a trip down the pleasant, sunbathed path of nostalgia at that time. Said Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus:
"The 8- and 16-bit classics many gamers cut their teeth on are magical, down to their blocky sprites and elegantly simple gameplay. 3D Dot Game Heroes captures all of that legendary charm and more, bringing classic visuals, familar sounds, and a grand sense of exploration and discovery into stunning next-gen realization, all the while giving countless winks and nudges to the fans those iconic games mean the most to. We also like the final line in the press release, which reads- "Dripping with old school charm, classic gaming pizzazz, and pure retro sexy, 3D Dot Game Heroes is the ultimate homage to the industry's golden era." Atlus is the publisher the devs are FROMSOFTWARE.
I don't know If i can take getting another platinum in a FromSoftware title this decade… So i should be fine by May!
@Nickert0n Oh really? Thanks for the clarification, I like FROMSOFTWARE an assload as well, they did Demon's Souls and the first Armored Core God I loved that game. Do you know if Atlus and FROMSOFTWARE have some sort of partnership or something?

Atlus is awsome. They publish nearly every rpg that doesn't make it over in the mainstream way. I really do wonder tho, and kinda feel bad, but do they make enough money? I mean with all the cult rpg's they publish do they make it all back? I mean I certainly don't want them to disappear anytime soon =O I love me some Atlus games, haha
I love Atlus and all, but I wouldn't exactly say that they publish 'nearly every RPG that doesn't make it over in the mainstream way'. NISA publishes more obscure RPGs than Atlus does, though the quality of their localizations is much lower.
As far as making money goes, they have a pretty good idea of how well these games will sell (well, it seems like sometimes they *under*estimate…) and they keep their costs in line with that. While the numbers sold would be completely unacceptable to some of the bigger publishers that doesn't mean they can't make money.
Atlus please give us the Yakuza franchise!! Sega of america its just to busy pleasing the xbots …I implore you Atlus I would buy three!!!

I was expecting a real 2D game, but when I clicked on the video link, I was surprised. This thing looks almost real! It looks like clay animation! I'm definitely getting this ho f'sho!
Demon Soul's was in my opinion the best RPG I have ever played, needless to say I will be pre-ordering this.

I loved Demon's Souls, it brought back the focus and presistance that I thought I had lost back in the PS1 days. GIMME MOAR
