Media Molecule: Don’t Worry About The PSP Version Of LBP

Whenever a game that was considered to be a major accomplishment on consoles shifts to handhelds, everyone immediately has their concerns. The developers will be forced to make some sacrifices, of course, so how will they maintain such a high level of quality?

Well, Media Molecule is just the right team to allow Sackboy and Co. to make this transition without losing the title's original flair and panache. Speaking to ThatVideoGameBlog , Media Molecule producer Martin Lynagh addressed the upcoming PSP version of LittleBigPlanet and said quite simply that just because it's a PSP title doesn't mean we should expect lesser quality: "I think it's a tremendous version of the game, "he said. "The sacrifices made were the right ones. It plays really well, which is a sort of testament to the team's creativity and hard work." If you pick up LBP for the PSP, you won't be shortchanged: you will receive the standard single-player mode, the level creation that really allowed the game to reach new heights in this generation, and ad-hoc sharing amongst players. It's scheduled to release in November and we've got the game now, so stay tuned for our review in due time.

There's also the rumor that the PSP Go will fall in price down to $199 for the holidays and if that's the case, it should pique the buying interest of many more consumers.

I think the best thing about this game is the geniuses who make amazing levels, theres this guy who made the one, lost in the pacific, so damn good, and you can't die, so it was great for me and my friends who were just having a laugh and playing together.

Sweet, may pick up the GO if it drops… my local Wally world had their PSP "Rock Band Unplugged" pack for $139 about a week ago.. said they were makin room for the PSP GO- which they hadn't even received their shipment yet since launch. But I thought that was a great deal, considering the PSP 3000 is $169 bare bones. Was very tempted, but had to pass. Didn't want to be short on cash flow for the work week.

What do they mean by ad hoc sharing? Hopefully you will be able to dl levels over the net and not just ad hoc from friends.

Yes, you can upload and download user created levels.

Are you sure about that? I haven't read up on it in a while, but I thought last I heard you couldn't do the online thing with the portable. May need double checked.

you can do online, you just have to have the infrastructure server, which at this time we have no confirmation of…

Got ya. That would make sense. I think I may have been thinking of online multiplayer. Sorry, like I said, it had been a while. That's great to hear. Thanks!

So…ad hoc only or infrastructure is what I want to, pretty much every game as ad hoc game sharing, but I want online with this game. Or do you end up making levels and then only playing with people around you…

Creating levels on the go should be really fun

Heck, I might actually create more levels here than on the ps3 version

Yeah, I'm on board. I don't like a lot of psp games I try, but I'm willing to bet this one will entertain me when I'm traveling. I'll feel like a dork being a 33yo sitting on an airplane playing with dolls. (Or my sack, if you wish.)
