The pic where Yamauchi is holding a GT5 package only shows ONE case being the actual game – the black one. You can clearly see the top case is a Gran Turismo 5 case. You can tell because you can see the Japanese CERO rating (like our American ESRB), and the transparent white PS3 case, with the new PS3 logo. And the bottom two look like instruction booklets, or car booklets that detail all of the cars featured in the game (this is something Polyphony has done many times in the past).
That's all it is. Three Blu-Rays this will NOT be. — Arnold K.
The hotly anticipated simulation racer won't arrive in Japan until March and "not much later" in North America and Europe, but that doesn't mean we can't continue to salivate.
We all know about many of the appealing aspects of the game, but this news pertains to the packaging itself. Why? Because it appears that Polyphony will include not one, not two, but three Blu-Ray discs in the final Gran Turismo 5 package that will be on store shelves. According to a recent video featuring the new Mercedes SLS AMG, Kazunori Yamauchi is seen holding a GT5 box with three BD discs – one black, one red, one blue – clearly shown at one point. The only question is, what could they be? And why do we get the feeling that we're looking at a Collectors or Limited Edition, or something like that? Other information gleaned from the video tells us that Polyphony may consider putting the new Mercedes on the cover of the game, as Yamauchi says "it'll probably be the most exciting car in the world when GT5 releases." We also learn that GT5 "uses one single physics calculation model" so all the designers do is enter the parameters for each car, and everything plays out from there. Yamauchi said, "if the original car is made well, it'll drive well." Well, that's nice and everything, but what about those three discs…?
This isn't last generation and we're not talking about the Xbox 360. We're talking about Blu-Ray; we haven't yet needed multiple BD discs for any game, even though some titles – like MGS4 – have nearly filled the 50GB worth of space available on one disc. So the mystery continues…we imagine someone is going to ask Polyphony about it at some point, though, so stay tuned.

Must be something BIG otherwise why stick it on 3 BLU-RAY Discs?? Can't wait to see whats on those discs.
It's a limited/collectors edition box. There are BD discs out there that have more than 200GB of space. If they needed the extra space there is no need to use separate 50GB BD's.
The PS3 is not capable of using BluRay discs that have more than 2 layers. 50GB is the max.
I'd say a special edition seems likely. It probably includes some behind the scenes specials and stuff. I know the game should be pretty big but I can't see the game itself taking up more than on disk.
Don't get too excited. They're probably just spreading out content across the 3 disks as a "perceived vaule" marketing gimmick. They do that all the time with movie Blu-Rays.

im not saying it istn out there but i havnt ran across a movie that doesnt have all content on a single blu-ray disc, none the less a single game on a blu-ray disc.
They have no reason to run a marketing gimick for gt5, the players will be buying this game to play it for gt5, not because they are selling it with 3 discs that u claim may be a disguise of spreading extra content. as for the 3 discs well, who knows my guess is special edition or something, either way it wont be a gimick!

LOL, why are all you getting your panties tied up over this? I'm a huge GT fan too, just disgruntled by the half decade development time. Go ahead, thumbs down me.
And to answer somebody's question, putting bonus material on a seperate BR disk (when it would all fit on just one disk) is something other movies have done. I have a Pirates of the Carribean BluRay where they did this. It's just a marketing gimmick. Maybe that's the case here with GT, maybe not.
Everyone calm down, I'm not slaying the sacred cow that is GT5 🙂
Marketing gimmick or not, I have yet to pay anything extra for these "bonus" discs. I still end up getting the blu-ray movie releases for less than $20 USD. I just picked up T:RotF for $15 and it was labeled as a special edition 2 disc release.
Side note; Hopefully GT5 will support custom soundtracks like the PSP version does.

I am sure the game will be on one disc. If that is indeed the packaging, I am sure the content will be something else.
On the video, you can see the SLS AMG getting "put together", and to me, that's what is amazing.
March is along ways away, but I can wait for perfection.
Looks like this game is gonna show what the PS3 is really made out of. No problems with it being on 3 discs at all. Just means more gaming fun!

But seriously, they usually do not release the full car list until game is out.
See I'm a lil bothered that no one was bashing this game for being multidisc, on the other hand had it been on the 360 it would have been been bash to no end. I know it's been clarified now, but still I come here because it used to be a shelter from 360 fanbots, now it seems it's getting a little biased here not to ruffle any feathers.

the red disk is the actual game,blue 1 contains the soundtracks & the black 1 contains the digital edition of the car manual & the 1080p making of videos
aint sony suppose to be releasing those 150GB bluray disks next year?
if GT5 is using 3 disks and is coming out next year, wouldent it be commonsense to delay GT5 till there ready?
and use GT5 as a marketing ploy for the new disks
