Arnold-KatayevLittleBigPlanet is arguably the most creative and innovative videogame available at the moment, it garnered massive praise and even managed to sell fairly well, considering it wasn't exactly a major franchise and its value is dependent on those of the determined and not-lazy kind. Well, there's word that overseas in the United Kingdom, a copy of LBP can be had for as little as £10.
MCVUK is reporting that online retailers such as DVD.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk are selling LBP for £10.89 and £12.99 respectively, and that's quite a bargain considering the original retail price as £44.99. And before the doom and gloomers come out of the woodwork, make note that this price drop seems exclusive to just these two retailers, and that this is being done after the game sold over two million copies worldwide.
When trying to confirm these prices as truth, we discovered that DVD.co.uk doesn't have a listing for LBP anymore, leading us to assume that the price drop was done intentionally to liquidate a small amount of stock. On the other hand, Amazon.co.uk still has copies of the game available for £12.99, in addition to a plethora of other majorly discounted high profile games, including Resistance 2, Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge, Bioshock, MotorStorm 2, and even a £10 price-drop for Killzone 2. A Sony representative did have some words to offer to MCVUK, though:
“In general the retail environment is very tough at present, but the positive consequence is that when consumers are feeling the need to monitor their spending there are still some attractive deals to be had if people shop around,” said the Sony spokesperson.
“It is commonly accepted that in times of economic hardship, people value their entertainment. And the multiple hours of entertainment value represented in a video game can makes games a more attractive purchase, especially at a discounted price.”
Whatever the case may be, all we know is that these are some massive bargains. And for whatever it's worth, EB Games here in the states still charges $60 for a copy of LBP. So UK gamers, stock up!

Its been that price on Amazon for a good 4 months now. I got killzone 2 on day b4 launch 4 £29.99, Far cry 2 4 £19.99 & p.o.p 4 the same price, i also just purchased kung fu panda on ps3 4 £17.57, so all in all this recession does have some positives 4 us gamers ay
Games cost way too much. The retail price for ps3 games should 39.99 and not 59.99. They would probably even be able to sell them for 29.99, and still make a profit. They can charge whatever they want, because they know gamers will pay just to be able to play the games. If games were 99.99 you would buy them because otherwise you wouldn't have any games to play. Anyway, games are just too high!
N64 games were over 100$ in Canada.
Gameboy 1 games went for 60-80 in canada in the early 90s. SNES was 70 for pretty much all titles, iirc. In those days a night at the movies might cost 20-30 bucks with a date.
The price of games has gone down over the years, in the face of inflation. I think 60 is pretty damn reasonable. I have to spend 50 for a 2 hour movie in the theatre with my wife.

To anj… it's a big mass of land just north of the land of the free. We aren't quite as free (ya…right), but we really like poutine and maple syrup. But seriously, prices in Canada are similar to the US, so I'm sure N64 games pushed 100$. I don't live in Canada now, so I'm not sure. I live in Korea, and I bought Killzone here for like 40$ 2 weeks after launch…pretty reasonable.

I don't know if the price of games are too high when you consider the developement costs.
But what bothers me more is that the PS3 games in general are shorter with less. I atribute this to online gaming focus instead of the single player. Such a shame.
Well considering we generally pay more for everything else, this makes a nice difference.
Maybe why the U.S. isn't getting a price drop is because of the weak dollar?
Thats cool, my friend is living in london england and informed me how happy he was to see a price drop on LBP now he's getting a copy finally. UK generally pays out the butt for things compared to NA. So this is very nice to see for them
Cool, UT3 was £9.99 on Play. The UK is the 2nd Biggest Game buyer in the World, and overtook Japan in '08, so it comes as no suprise really.
Seen it cheap at Game some of the games have been reduced to £24.99 or £17.99 with Gamestop offering selected trade ins worth £30 for April!!!

I have a £30 limit for any games I buy now. Should have bought KZ2 preorder for that but waiting and now it's £34.99-£39.99. Oh well.
I'm glad to see some of the prices dropping. Should generate extra sales which will bring more revenue for the developers.
UK you guys may get release date problems but at least your games drop in price. Takes years for a game to go down in the US, unless it kinda sucks then they drop it by 10 bucks woohoo.

ha,ha – this news has a loooong beard – we here in Germany are buying our games (almost) exclusivly in UK since the pound becomes lighter and lighter 😉 UK is part of the European Union, but they refused to switch to the € currency as all the others did. Now they pay the price and we pay less. But also you Americans can participate. If you have an Amazon account, just switch to amazon.co.uk and shop there – regarding the very low pound it´s still a deal, even if the transport costs like £10.
