By now, you've probably already seen the Story Trailer for Bayonetta, which I just posted today. If you're an action aficionado and haven't been following along, we suggest you start paying attention. It wouldn't surprise us in the least if Bayonetta followed faithfully in Devil May Cry 's footsteps.
First of all, the game's director designed Dante in DMC, and although he still wants to say his new vision is "sadistically hard," he has caught the eye of the action fans who call themselves "purists." That video basically proves Hideki Kamiya's influence – that's a female Dante, as far as we can see, in terms of attitude and style – and we're definitely hoping for something special. These days, the shooters are really taking center stage, and although we're convinced that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be unbelievable later this year, we have to wait for God of War III , which won't release until 2010. Sure, we'll get Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 , but we all know what that'll be about; Bayonetta , on the other hand, is something new. Granted, the mechanic itself may not be all that unique, but I think we all can agree that the combat in DMC wasn't all that similar to the combat in NG. It's also difficult to accurately compare it to GoW; Dante always felt different , you know?
And we fully expect Bayonetta to feel a lot like DMC4. If this is the case, people should be keeping a closer eye on this potential blockbuster. IPs typically have a tough time getting noticed, and in fact, they usually remain relatively obscure until a ton of reviewers stand up and scream at everyone to play it. Remember Uncharted: Drake's Fortune ? Yes, it turned out amazing but as it wasn't an established name, nobody who didn't scour the 'Net every day for gaming news had heard of it. The same goes for Bayonetta , but we're telling you: if it's fair to label this game as DMC with a female protagonist, everyone had better get in line for a closer look. Based on what we've seen and heard so far, this has quickly shot up our priority list for 2009, and we suggest following along with any new updates…

yaaaaaaaaaawn
what? 'nother flashy game with over hype?
I'll pass
I hope it at least does SOMEthings different from DMC, I wouldn't want a carbon copy with overlaid characters and plot.
im not that interested in this. i will be busy with monster hunter.
It looks promising, that i have to admit but i hope they make an effort to ramp up the graphics as looking at the trailer the graphics side of things didnt look too impressive but could be alot of fun. anything to tide me over till 2099 when final fantasy 13 + versus and kingdom hearts 3 get released.
The moves TOTALLY remind me of Adray/Adlai's skills in Star Ocean 3
=D
Adray Lasbard.
He summons magic rifts too.
Nah, the sytle isnt as slick as DMC, its just way to over the top, at the point to where it gets silly.
This IP will be a sadistically hard to sell.
Bayonetta not as good as God of War confirmed.
I never found any redeeming virtues in the DMC series. I played through the first 3, mainly because I had so many friends go on and on about them, but in truth, it was pure labour. Thus, this comparison doesn't mean anything positive to me, heh.

I can see this game only selling copies because of the label "partial nutidy" on the back.
I love the design of the main character (straight, long black hair, glasses = awesome) but I don't think I'll be playing this one.
Still, would be surprised if it turned out half as good as DMC.
