First of all, check out this developer mockumentary that popped up for April Fools Day. It's definitely worth a look, as a group of supposedly serious designers come up with an awesome new weapon for Guerilla : the Ostrich Hammer. Yeah, it was a joke, but the response was extremely positive and Volition just recently told GameSpot, "We're giving them the bird." Said a Volition employee on the studio's blog:
"We had no idea the reaction to the video would be so positive and that gamers would really like to kill someone with a very large bird. Luckily for all of you, the team here had already created this hammer for RF:G's MP component, but we really thought about doing something special to show it to the world."
Basically, the story is pretty simple. Somebody leaked pre-alpha screenshots of the game to the Internet last year, and a NeoGAF forumite Photoshopped an ostrich's body into one of the shots. Things just escalated from there, and now, Volition has decided that we all need the Ostrich Hammer. The quote says it'll be part of the multiplayer component and not the single-player – awww – but at least it'll be there. We don't know about you, but now we almost want to buy the game simply for the sake of trying out this freakin' crazy weapon. Red Faction: Guerilla is slated to drop for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on June 9.

Eh… I'd be more excited about this if I hadn't just played the demo. I can see some people liking it, but it's not for me.

I'm but this game is going to be epic, it's got a Far Cry like free roam and it's got the destructability of BFBC (only MUCH better, like actually nearly everything blows up) and it seems like fun. I'm not too sure why the enemy was able to tons of bullets but it irritated me so i just beat them with a hammer, lol. It's gorgeous also, don't forget everyone Volition said they maxxed out the 360 with game.

Nope, if anything it'll be ps3 exclusive, adding this to the 360 will make it asplode probably.

RF lost its feel. 3rd person has killed the game for me. Buildings and structures are destructible, but gone are the days when you could blow holes in ground or the side of a mountain.
Too bad, had my hopes up for this.
I saw a video in qore that explained why they went with 3rd person. Interesting really. Apparently in first person people were blowing up everything around them and debris was falling on them and killing them and the team found that if they pulled the camera back then people could see stuff falling and they could avoid it instead of getting killed by their own debris all the time.
Ridiculous.

I was a little annoyed w/ the developer interview in April's Qore…he says something like "The power of the PS3 lets us do a lot of things w/ destructable environments." Isn't the 360 version the same? When a multi-platform dev says something like this, it makes it sound like they're saying the 360 has just as good capabilities.

Well the interview was for Qore so it's obvious they're bound to say good things towards the PS3, also you can't say they're the same since they're not out yet, and Volition DID say they used 100% of the 360's power.
I find it quite hilarious that RF's gonna give everyone "the bird"
