EA Announces Premium Packs For The Godfather II

We won't be getting a Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row this year, which is all the more reason to give EA's The Godfather II a try. If you need more incentive, they've just announced some "premium upgrade packs."

According to GamersDigest, these packs will present you with level-four weapons, two new multiplayer maps (gotta have 'em), and an additional crew member who comes fully equipped with four original skills. You can take your crew online and compete, which means that such upgrades will be absolutely necessary if you want to make a splash on the leaderboards. The DLC will become available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace two weeks after the game launches. That puts this DLC release date at April 23, so if you're a fan of the legendary movie series and are planning to buy the game, you should mark your calendars for the extra goodies. Here's the list:

• The Pentangeli Map Pack: Download for the all-new Cuba multiplayer map and the Junkyard multiplayer map.
• $6.75 / 540 points

• Level 4 Weapons Bundle: Download this collection to receive the Modern Dillinger, the .700 Magnum Impact, the Herzstopper, the MG-S1 Sniper Wolfe, and the Street Sweeper.
• $4.00 / 320 points

• Jack of All Trades: Download Jimmy Lira – the Jack of All Trades to have this character in your family. Jimmy Lira starts out with the arsonist, engineer, medic, and safecracker specialties and comes equipped with a level 2 machine gun – the MP38.
• $4.00 / 320 points

• The Corleone Bundle (All of the above): Download the multiplayer map pack, the level 4 Weapons Bundle, and the Jack of All Trades (Jimmy Lira) crew member.
• $10.00 / 800 points

Stay tuned for our review, and remember, there isn't a whole lot going on in April. The Godfather II may be your best bet for an intense, in-depth, and ultimately entertaining experience.

One day I'll rent this game, if the Godfather is lucky. Some kid's were trying to tell me this game looks better than Uncharted 2. People are so messed up these days….

Announcing PDLC before the game even ships? with pricing?

I think it's time for a good ol' fashioned EA Boycott!

At least they could pretend they didn't just pull it from the retail release. Too bad too, the game looked like it might be good. I guess I'll never know now. $24.75 on top of $59.99 is an outrage.

Doh, good catch. I just quickly added the totals.

Unfortunately, it doesn't change my outrage with EA any.

This is more for leaderboard whores who just want to have that extra advantage, and not so much for other gamers who still believing in having to unlock it yourself through hard work and diligence and not just being lazy and paying for it. This is a slippery slope with Devs these days, and although it didn't bother me at first, it is starting to become increasingly more irritating.
