Ben-Dutka'sigh' We're relatively certain that this is nothing more than a mistake (or a bad guess) on OPM's part, but we still have to report on it. The Internet is already going crazy over the scant possibility that such a listing could be true, and it's our job to tell you about it.
Apparently, the European edition of the Official PlayStation Magazine features a full layout of God of War III , and although it may not feature more details than we already know, it does list an estimated release date…and lo and behold, it says Fall 2009. So once again, we're off on a whirlwind rumor tour that will touch every major source, and when it hits home over at SCEA, Sony will more than likely respond with the classic, "no comment." Then, some other official is going to pop up and say we won't see GoWIII any time this year, and it won't hit store shelves until March. We can almost guarantee this is going to happen, but there's still a very small part of us that wants to hope. It's a naive part, but we try to rationalize: we try to look at the situation and say, "well, look at all this gameplay footage we've seen, and check out all the details we already have. How could this game still be a year away?" We've said that more than a few times, but reality always comes along to smack us out of our fantastical reverie.
And it's gonna happen again. But in the meantime, we'll just try to keep a positive outlook and imagine how sweet "God of War III" would look sitting at the top of our holiday wish list.

Can't see this game being released until 2010 i preordered and even the date says at ebgames Early 2010 on my receipt no actual set date.

yeah heavy rain has huge potential, but besides that you can't go wrong with uncharted 2, GT5 (in march i believe), or GOWIII
@Sir Shak, February is the only time I can play video game, I'm a Chinese and I got work, and at Feb it's Chinese New Year where I can smash my console like there's no tomorrow.
If I miss my gaming time, I'll have to wait for another year, it's weird but true.

Get a PS3 like…ummm…wait for it…now. The exclusives are more spaced out right now. I think the next one is Infamous (June). Perfect time for you to play catch-up. And you'll have time to go back and play games like MGS4, Uncharted, all 4 of Insomniac's Games, the Motorstorms, Warhawk, etc. And thats just the exclusives!
I'm not even mentioning the great multiplat games and the PSN titles.
Just please, Snaaaake, don't smash your console to bring in the new year. You're suppose to play them. No violence, please.

I'm not going for multiplats, PS3 exclusives are always the greatest, mutiplats actually hold down the PS3's capability to the same as 360 so why should I bother when I have better games to buy.
Games that really caught my eyes are Resistance 2, Killzone 2 and inFamous, I played MGS4 on a friend's PS3 before and finished it so I'm not gonna buy one and play again.
Why not play MGS4 again?
Anyway, ruling out games because they are multiplat is doing urself an injustice.
Fallout 3, Bioshock, all the great Capcom games, the CoD's!, Max Payne 3 (well hell any Rockstar game), etc.

the designers dont even know themselves. just let them do their job: to design great games. It would be a good idea to make GoWIII launch with the PS3 pricecut in the holidays though.

We could only wish!…but it would be one hell of a bank roll for Sony to start advertising around the end of summer and have Kratos peering at customers in Holiday '09..Say the end of November? I'll be happy either way as long as Sony SM feels like theyve completed the best action game this decade!
This is almost surely bogus, I know. But I'm honestly not quite ready to say GOW III is definitely coming out in 2010. This is a huge, pivotal year for Sony, they NEED this game to build momentum, and I'm sure they've pumped tons of resources into its development in the hopes of getting it ready for a late fall ship date. Again, I agree 2010 is the best bet, but I'll believe it's definitely not making it out for the holidays this year once Sony says so.
It is a win-win situation for sony. By sticking to a launch date a year away, they are surely capable of meeting it. Their stable of exclusives is deep this year, and they dont really need GoWIII this year. The opposite might be true indeed, with so many awesome titles hitting the street this year, over saturation might hurt sales.
Should they get ahead on development, and wish to tie it in with a console price drop, they would get only praise (assuming it isn't buggy as all hell) and all those extra consoles being sold would help to defeat the oversaturation of software this fall.
Like I said, win-win for sony either way.

The game will undoubtedly come out in 2010 (march that is..). I feel that the march date would be better. PS3 already has Uncharted 2 planned to release later this year and the last thing Sony wants is GOW3 eating up UC2 sales. With Infamous helping to end the summer drought and UC2 + COD:MW2 in the later half, I think I will be more than happy. Then, MAG, GOW3, Heavy Rain, GT5… all in 2010. Hope Sony spaces those well.
A price drop is the only thing Sony needs now.
don't forget that FFXIII will also come out next year. FFXIII and GOW3 for 2010 will be a VERY nice combo game. I think heavy rain will come out this year, i just hope it would.

I called 2010 release date for XIII back in '07. GoWIII is surely in 2010.
