Ben-DutkaIf you were hoping for Team ICO to reveal their new PlayStation 3 exclusive project at this year's Game Developers Conference, you're about to be disappointed.
According to ShackNews, a group of developers sat down in a joint panel discussion at GDC 09 to talk about their upcoming projects, and it included No More Heroes creator Goichi Suda, Fallout 3 developer Emil Pagliarulo, and Shadow of Colossus designer Fumito Ueda. They didn't have much to say , and we only got the smallest hint regarding Ueda's new project. When prompted to talk about it, the following exchange occurred:
Ueda: "The Japan studio bosses are probably here so I can't say anything specific. But it might be something similar to what's been done. Kind of a middleground…"
Mark MacDonald: "I'm sorry, the translation wasn't quite clear. Maybe if you could speak a little bit more about your next game."
Ueda: "Hmm, well, let's see. Well, probably it will be similar to the past… we are struggling. The essence of the game is rather close to Ico."
Suda: "Who is your partner?"
Ueda: "I can't talk about this anymore. Don't ask anymore questions please! As soon as I start talking they are going to shoot me."
Why they're keeping this so tight under wraps is beyond us, but it seems abundantly clear that we aren't going to see an official unveiling at the GDC. Our hopes turn to E3 but at this point, we really can't make any guarantees. At the very least, we know the game is closer to ICO than Shadow of the Colossus , so that's something…
I loved both so I am happy either way!

I hope his next game is just as enormous or even bigger than his first 2.
I understand that this dude is sworn to secrecy but jeez, this game must still be far off if they don't want to even start revving the hype machine AT ALL.

I think they understand how destructive the media and fans can be, give them a taste and they will pressure devs until the software is realeased prematurely (like Home). I'm all for the silent treatment.

He can have all the time in the world, I've never trusted a game creator as much as him. Whether it is like ICO or not is irrelevant, I know it will be an amazing game that stays with me long after the ending credits.
Sadly I have never been able to play ICO or Shadow of the Colossus because I have been a avid Xbox user. Since I realized that the new generation of Xbox was pure garbage after mine broke, I got myself a shiny PS3 and have been very excited about every game that is soon to come. I watched my friend play a Shadow of the Colossus and I was blown away. So I am eager to see what this is all about.
Me either…I've always been a sony gamer, but there were a few years where I didn't play games. Partying and girls kind of took a hold of my life for a few years, so I missed out on those games.
You two don't have a PS2? Go get one! Grab SotC and GoW I+II while you're at it. If you play your cards right you can get those games and a PS2 for 150 bux. You'll be thanking me later I promise you that. If you've already played GoW games then SotC will still be worth the admission.

I just played sotc and it's probably one of the best game i played. The only problem is the camera angles are annoying. PATCH PLZ lol

Anyone ever see that movie with Adam Sandler, Reign Over Me? Good film (not a comedy) but it was funny when he was always playing Shadow of the Colossus on his big screen with Don Cheadle.

i never played ico and shadow of the collosus in my opinion could have been at a quicker pace but i have faith in their new game

SOTC had a story and IMO the greatest videogame ending in the history of videogames. I do however believe you have to play ICO to get the most out of SOTC.

So this kinda shuns the SotC Online rumor…? Either way this game is in good hands and should be nothing short of spectacular.
He clearly states "we are struggling." That means there's nothing to show because nothing's been made. They don't have a frackin idea of what to do next. With SotC ending, would you?
