LittleBigPlanet Will Continue To Expand

LittleBigPlanet is unique in more ways than one: this may be the very first game in history to feature unlimited longevity, and it's all due to the spark of creativity that lies at its core and allows for continual expansion.

There is already a ton of downloadable content for LBP on the PlayStation Network, so don't get too antsy concerning a possible sequel. During a recent interview with Media Molecule founder Alex Evans, conducted by GameTrailers' Geoff Keighley, Evans spoke about the team's future plans, which includes a whole lot more content and patches.

"…the whole team is working on LBP, whether that comes out in a sequel or DLC isn’t an issue. We’re just doing whatever we’d be doing anyway and the way that comes out isn’t really important. The ‘Paint Gun’ in the Metal Gear pack was a little taster. We want to make it easier for people to make the things they want to make."

If you've already tested out the "Paint Gun" in question, you're quite aware of the potential, and you're likely interested to see the next step. Keighley than asked, half-jokingly, whether or not we might one day see people creating a FPS within the LPB world and Evans replied simply, "It could happen. Why not?" Even though the launch of LBP is well behind us, we could be seeing a game in its infancy stages and a few years from now, it could be something completely different. Just imagine the sheer number of possibilities! Or is that even possible…?

I say forget a sequel for a long long time, just keep expanding it. I can't wait to give this to my little niece for her birthday and watch it grow up as she gets older and learns how to be creative with level making and stuff.

I would be ecstatic if they provided the kind of support for LBP as Criterion has done for Burnout Paradise.

That is crazy this game will last for years to come if MM keeps this up good business.

I got bored of this game after a week. If i had another controller for my brother, it probably would have lasted a much longer time. I don't like the online though, its too laggy or its just my router.(borrowed ps3)

Nice nice, I'd like to see more "powers" and such like Solid Snake's paintball gun.

Jed is right. If MM were to add content like criterion does it will be great. Adding new costumes and stickers is o.k., but the metal gear dlc was the best dlc they have. If they were to do more like that, it would prolong the life of the game.
Right now, all the user created levels are what keeping the game interesting.

Let's hope they do addon/expansion levels before putting out a sequel as with the noticeable difference between the quality of media molecule's levels vs. ones end users create for the LBP community (not saying there aren't some very impressive homebrew ones out there), and the kind of small amount of levels media molecule included in the game, a $60 sequel for new developer content prior to anymore level expansion DLC wouldn't go down to well with me.

I'm absolutely all for MM updating with DLC rather than rushing out a sequel. Why halve the community?

I reckon its an unbelievable experience that anoyone can enjoy. I still wish they allowed you to put your own music into levels though even if you werent allowed to publish it with the same music.
