According to PlayStation LifeStyle , the latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine hints that the fifth installment in the legendary series may be revealed by Konami some time in "April or May." Now, as far as we can tell, nothing major is happening in either of these upcoming months, but E3 is slated for June 2 – June 4. Hence, the majority of people who wish to believe this rumor are saying that Metal Gear 5 will be officially announced at E3. As far as we know, there won't be a "Solid" in this title, as Snake's story is supposedly complete. We're certain that Konami isn't about to abandon the franchise name and there will most definitely be another installment, but we've waved adieu to Snake. As an additional bit of news, which may or may not be construed as "bad" by the fans, PTOM also reports that Kojima will not be the game's director, although he'll still be involved in the development process. Rumor has it he's knee-deep in some other title right now… Just don't call him a traitor for working on something new, m'kay?
If a new Metal Gear really is on tap for an unveiling in the next few months, it's bound to be a gigantic piece of news, so stay tuned for any new info/details.

Ben, you are aware that the Solid in MGS stands for the graphics being rendered in 3D and has nothing to do with Snake. Just thought you should know. XP

I am aware of that. But in order to change the name from Snake's story, it has been rumored that the new series will simply be called "Metal Gear."
Oh I see. Has it ever been said if it will still have something to do with Metal Gears, or will it still have that same feel (gameplay) as the past Metal Gear games but a different universe?

For someone to say MGS4 was crap clearly either play the game or was not very good at it.
MGS4 was and will probably be the best game for a while.
Now before the KZ2 peeps get on for saying this I am by no way in any means slamming KZ2 I enjoyed it but I have and will always love the MGS games and I thought myself personally that MSG4 was better and so far nothing has come close to beating it with the exception of KZ2, the Gears Games 1 and 2, GTA4 and Uncharted.
To me MGS4 just pips them to the post but I do enjoyin playing the other games a lot too.
I second that. I still think MGS4 had better overall graphics – I don't remember seeing any low-rez textures at all-it was all uniform quality. KZ2 had mostly astounding textures, and in between it would throw you some really bad ones, which for me made the whole experience inconsistent.
Just a thought, without a Snake, could it ever be as good as MGS4?
I don't mind another MG of some alternative character, but I don't want to see MG turn into Halo.

Nothing will be as epic as any of the previous games were. Considering Hideo Kojima won't be directing this one and yea…unfortunately I have a bad feeling that it might hurt the "Metal Gear" franchise. Heck I wish the best for it – but yea…
I hope metal gear 5 don't get water down if it go to multiplatform, because that will piss off ps3 owners.

i never liked raiden….. it was soo hard to play with him in mgs2 cuz of all those cutscenes and besides… hes not a part of big boss!!
another snake clone will be cool. but i want to play as ocelot or liquid in these games.

Personally I'm kind of looking forward to Hideo Kojima sitting on the sidelines for this title, although it will be possible that the team that makes MG5 will be using a story he wrote. I think Kojima's legacy is epic, but I respect him for wanting to step down and let someone else take the reigns…although if MG5 turns out to be horrible I'm sure he'll come back and redeem the series, but I don't think that will really be needed seeing as how Metal Gear is his baby and he's not going to just hand it over to some stranger.

It's a big srep letting Kojima step away from the hotseat on what's been, lets face it, the last 20 years of his life-for Konami and Hideo himself.
Big ask to top MGS4 as well so the next guy up will still need to lean on Kojima for details I imagine(as it looks like he'll be there in the same way Miyamoto is for the Zelda team at Nintendo)if this us gonna work out.
As for the exclusivity of MG5-I still see the series as being a Sony exclusive. If they push the boat out for anyones baby it'll be kojima's opus and it's legacy to come. yopu can't sdopubt the power of those MS cheques though! Still, great news whatever.
