The fighting genre has seen quite the rejuvenation this generation, hasn't it? From Soul Calibur IV to Street Fighter IV to some excellent old-school throwbacks on the PSN and XBLA, it's a category that has suddenly found new life.
And here comes another: it's a huge arcade sensation in Japan and it's bound to satisfy the hardcore fighter fan in all veteran gamers. The game is called BlazBlue: Calamity , and it's scheduled to arrive on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this summer. Arc System Works, responsible for the critically acclaimed Guilty Gear franchise, is at the helm for BlazBlue , and that's most encouraging. The upcoming 2D fighter will feature "extraordinarily detailed, hand-drawn character in true high-definition glory," a "hard-hitting rock soundtrack composed by famed Guilty Gear creator, Daisuke Ishiwatari," and oh yes, console exclusive content! Said Michael Manzanares, Aksys Games Associate Producer:
"As the spiritual successor to the Guilty Gear series, BlazBlue pushes the 2D fighting game genre by introducing intuitive system mechanics with beautiful 2D animation and gorgeous 3D backgrounds. Once you play BB, you'll find it hard to go back to anything
less."
As additional bonuses, the fighter will boast dual language support and online battles where as many as 6 players can join up at once to experience the blazin' fast multiplayer fun. Fighting fans everywhere won't be able to pass up BlazBlue: Calamity this summer; as soon as we receive a solidified release date, we'll relay the info. Until then, keep those reflexes honed!

This could eaither be really good, and great for fans, or a complete flop. japan and the west do differ. that psp game; monster hunters portable 2nd gen (or something like that) only good over there. other games, but i can't go through the list.
To be honest, I'm more psyched about the King of Fighters XII announcement. Not necessarily the game itself, but the fact that SNK is getting a new game out. Makes me dream…salivate and hunger for a Capcom vs. SNK III! Mmmmm….

How good is blazblue in comparison to the likes of SFIV or SCIV? Is it really worth trying out, II gotta have a review of this game 1st.
2d fighters are back to kick it sideways in the nextgen console we got this & kofxii this games will make sf4 like a last gen game. If ur are a serious gamer or u were not there when 2d fighters ruled i highly recommend that u give 2d fighters a go.
I wish this would've stayed exclusive, the ps3 needs an exclusive fighter
Just visit youtube & do a search on BLAZEBLUE,KOFXII & PROJECT CEREBUS check a couple of vids make up your own mind games like this are usually marketed that well outside off asia.
This game looks freakin' sweet.
I can't go back to plain 2D unless it's for reto games, I just can't do it.
2D BOOOOOOYAAAAA I am all about it.
the last 2d fighter i played was kof 98 on my ps1. they do have a certain charm and bad assness about them though. as good as sf4 looks, i kinda wish they woulda went true 2d instead but i aint played the game to know for sure.
Oh hell, I'm busting out my Guilty Gear Judgement in celebration of BlazBu comin' to PS3. Particularly some VS CPU training with tha' Dizzy. Rachel loooks like a wicked char in BlazBlu!
So people already played this game? I hear its out on arcades already, but here in the US? RUCKY!
