It makes perfect sense: an artist produces enough popular albums with enough songs hitting high on the charts, and it's inevitable that a Greatest Hits compilation will arrive on store shelves at some point. Considering how close a franchise like Guitar Hero is to the music world, nobody should be shocked to hear about Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits .
If you didn't already know it was coming, it's scheduled to launch for all major platforms in June; the PS3 and 360 versions will retail for the expected $60, while the PS2 and Wii versions will hold a $40 price tag. And now, thanks to a recent IGN interview with the game's producer, Paul Gadbois, we have a little more in the way of baseline information. Not surprisingly, Greatest Hits will include the most popular tracks from each of the previously released entries in the blockbuster franchise, and each of the 48 master tracks will offer full band play. We'll also get the online and multiplayer features we just received in Guitar Hero: World Tour , and of the 48, we know of 8 songs that will be featured:
Yep, that's a pretty classic list (although I still think "We're Not Gonna Take It" is the better of the two most popular Twisted Sister songs). For those of you have already bought every Guitar Hero title out there, this Greatest Hits assembly may seem superfluous, but it's convenient to have all your favorite songs on one disc, isn't it? Why do you think artists release Greatest Hit compilations, even when most of their ardent fans already have every CD they ever made?

GH/RB games were mostly just a fad for me, fun for awhile, but ultimately not a high enough replay value. Not to discount the group possibilities, but most of the gaming my wife and I do are rather solitary, with online portions being the most social we get.
Now, tell me more about DJ hero, please~
i might get this, because it looks prety cool and i loved the past songs e.g sweet child o' mind, before i forget etc etc
also why are the comments still in beta? ahaha

Wait does this mean I can play Through the Fire and Flames on drum to or is this a downgrade from world tour.
UGH these type of games annoy the hell out of me and will be the end of human species.
Hehe, that's what I thought about them too, until I tried them at my friend's house like 3 weeks ago. I'm not saying it's the best thing out there in gaming, but I finally saw it's charm.
I was being a stubborn gamer, and bashing GH without playing it. Cause I didn't consider it a "real game". I think I was being like that because the Wii has made me sick of people playing casual games without caring about better quality games like LBP.
I'm not much into Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but does anyone know if The Cure is on either one of the games? Or if there are any plans to get them on there?
I would probably buy one of the games if they have The Cure on it.
GH is not my get down lol.
I'm gonna get sick of music games so fast because the only thing they do is add new songs. In this case, there's nothing new.

Holy Vala First Guitar Hero since Guitar Hero 3. But if Slipknot is in it then screw Greatest hits Before I forget is olld
Im getting this. I can't pass up full band TTFAF, and I wanna "PLAY FREE BIRD!" lol
that sucks, so in order for me to play old GH songs in full band is to buy this?
why?
Until Activision takes full responsibility for selling defective guitars, I will not be buying this or any of their other games. I have gone through 4 guitars; returned 2 whole sets, and returned 2 through activision. Every time its the same error…the down strum just quits working. I tried asking activision (when i returned it for the 4th time) if they would trade their crappy new guitar with the old one and they said no.
I have since then completely stopped playing this game because it is just frustrating to play this game with only up strum working.
If you don't have GH: World Tour i recommend you wait for a better guitar or get Killzone 2.
Yeah, I agree, Get the RB1 gutars, they have held up pretty well for me. Only one return and a lot of playing. The tilt sesnsor went out on me.
Man RockBand guitars are the worst, it is so much easier to play on expert using guitar hero guitars. plus I have had to return my rockband guitar twice because of the strum bar while I am still using the same guitar hero 3 guitar that I go with that game
Are you kidding BTNwarrior…GH Guitars suck…RB Guitars are quality…plus the new slider function in WT is SHIT…UTTER SHIT…RB is a better franchise as a whole…
I agree that the game Rock Band as a whole is a better game but the guitar for Rock Band just sucks. I don't have the GHWT guitar I have the GH3 guitar and it is much easier to play on expert using it because of the superior strum bar
I can't wait until this comes out. I started playing with GH3 on ma ps3 and loved it, and now playing World Tour all the time (with and without friends) I would love to play all the old songs that people keep telling me about, but I can't stand cover bands for songs that I love, so this is perfect! and it adds the vocals and drums. Plus all the good stuff that came with World Tour (i'm hoping anyways, like character creator and the same online band vs band stuff) Although, with GH Metallica coming out this month (I think that's right) and all the DLC i'm buying for World Tour, i'm already gonna be pretty busy over the summer >< But i'll probably pick it up anyways.
Oh yeah, plus GH will finally have trophies! It'll just give me a better reason to play more often 🙂 and to keep getting better as well.

All my guitars work fine…
I think this would be the game to get me to buy a GH title. I'm pretty much an RB fan. I like the visual style a whole lot more. But, it seems like this would have a lot of great songs.
What's a guy got to do to get Jimi's Foxey Lady? Some Live wouldn't hurt either.
I still need to get world tour… drums cost way too much.
Actually everything costs way to much these days. Even before Bush screwed up everyone's lives, games have cost a whole lotta money.
$60 or over for super good games make sense (like Guitar Hero of course), but Haze had a $60 price tag when it came out. Yep.
I don't know any of those songs. Not at all what I Expected. Right now I just want them to offer tons more DLC. More Big hit songs.
Looking forward to Greatest Hits, will be good to play songs from the earlier versions on ps3, roll on release date!!
